The creepy laywer obviously does not work for Dharma. Period.. Ben somehow struck up a deal with this creepy guy sometime in the past not knowing what affilations he had. Ben did'nt return on this deal like he had said he would and now it's payback time. This guy works for Widmore Industries (Penny), not Oceanic Air. This explains why Naomi had the picture of Desmond when she crashed on the island. Widmore has done work for Dharma and they know that they have'nt heard from the island in a long time. Kill two birds with one stone right!! Ben is a very smart guy in having a guy on the frieghter to watch his back. I guess his time ran out.
