What a STUPID idea!!! These captions truly render this show unwatchable, not only do they cover up part of the shots, but it's as if a child wrote them.
Why would you do this? I seriously can not think of a good reason why they would place comments on the screen, did they think we needed to be taken by the hand and guided through the episode? If they wanted to catch the newbs up then maybe they should have pieced together a recap instead of "reading" the episode to you like you were a child.
It's like being in a movie theater sitting next to some person who narrates the movie and makes asinine comments the entire time.
Thank you for very effectively ruining this show for me.
And yes I have only 1 post. I hate this "enhancement" so much I went on the internet to find this message board, register to get a name and rant about it.
I have yet to see the rest of the show as of this post but if the annoying comments continue I'll probably just fast forward through the rest.
You can bet I won't watch this show if this is to be a reoccurring event

I'm sure this is a one time thing.
Oddly I cannot help but read the things. My eyes are drawn to them no matter how hard I try to resist.
I'm sure they are helpful to new people, those who missed some episodes or those who just cannot remember everything from however long ago it was that the show last aired

Chill, turn the tv off if you don't like it! Stop the ranting

I'm with you. It ruined it for me as well and three friends phoned (well one was my Mother) stating the same. A very bad move and something I am sure they will get a LOT of complaints about.

its not good at all for the die hard lost fan, the type that has seen every episode more then once, posts online all the time, goes to all the Lost affiliated websites, and generally have a high Lost IQ.
That episode was for the casual viewer that doesnt know all the finer details like the rest of us. it was definetely stupid tho, it seems like it was directed at children...

It will not be a recurring event, and find a different board to rant on next time, if you have a good theory or some logic feel free to post it.

Annoying, yes. Necessary, probably. If you have DVR and go back and watch it, it kinda helps a little. I swore Jack said either when asked if he were friend or family but the subtitle read that he said neither. I thought it was distracting but just more information to process. You just have to have DVR to go back and re-watch as with all of the episodes. JJ is a genius and I am sure the pieces will really start fitting together VERY soon!

Yeah, it was a little annoying to me, but it was pretty entertaining at the same time. I was more annoyed that they showed a rerun instead of the new episode(I thought the new one was on tonight, been happy about ti all day), so at least it was something different. But I do hope that they don't do that ever again.

You are going to flog me for saying this but I liked it.
Yeah, it wasn't necesssary for the seasoned viewer but for the casual or new viewer it was helpful. It also gave a tidbit or two of info that we might not have known. Did you know that the patient in the hospital shared her last name with Bernard before last night? Didn't think so!
It aslo gave a little bit of insight into what the writers were thinking as they wrote the episodes. Yeah, we may have theorized that Locke and Jack could be considered mirror images of each other but last night confirmed it.
I did like the subtitles. Sorry.
