You could very well be onto something! Maybe the Black Rock is the representation of the first island or something. So far it's not a station but it probably wouldn't be if it was an artifact! Could call:) They are pirates of past and future!

Yee i mean, obviously the station was built on top/next to the 'ice place' alot later, i presume. So im guessing the ice place is very old, as is the black rock, Richards a pirate  ;)

Could be, but if it is, then there goes my theory as to how the Black Rock got to the middle of the island.

as soon as i saw the wheel i immediately thought the same thing...but after watching the scene a second time i think that the wheel ben turns is definetly WAY too big to be the wheel of any ordinary sailing ship. when turning it ben was actually able to fit his entire body easily between the seperate arms of the wheel...its a good idea but i dont think its the right one

I dont think the island is controlled by things from th eblackrock, because the blackrock was most likely in the ocean somewhere when the island was last moved, and thats probably how it ended up in the middle of the island.

Also I saw in another thread that people werent sure of the blackrock was transporting prisoners or slaves. I am pretty sure the Blackrock was a trade ship.

Also also, most theorists that talk about time travel and wormholes say the concept of time is not real, but a man-made idea. So I dont see the island moving forward or backward in time based on a clockwise or counter clockwise idea.

would it be possible that if the island did move in time in some way though, that it would sort of stay in the exact location and would appear somewhere else in the future due to th earth's rotation?

My thoughts as well. I think the wheel is way older than the Black Rock as well.

The wheel and its concept and what it was meant for sort of reminded me of the end of Stephen King's "The Stand," but not so much of the events as its wording.

*The Stand spoilers*

Randall Flagg, the villian, had somehow come back in some unknown culture, and he planned to teach them and turn them into bad people. History repeating itself. I may not remember the exact words, but it said something about time turning like a wheel, and eventually Flagg would be able to make his stand again.
