Halliwax's parka.

Was it in the Orchid for the sole purpose of being worn to the donkey wheel room? If so, was Halliwax the one who was supposed to move the island? Or has he already and is that why the msterious Candle/Halliwax/Wickmund hasn't been seen?

Or did they have parkas for experiments in sending people to cold places and Halliwax's parka just happened to end up in the Orchid? Have any other parkas been seen?

I just think there's more to his name being on it then I originally thought. :confused:

It confuses me as well. Obviously they didn't want anyone to find the wheel because they put that wall up and gave instructions on what not to do. But then why make it possible to be destroyed? Why have the parka at all?

What also confuses me is the secret SECRET room in Ben's house. Did Dharma know about it? Did Roger?

Then I remember how Horace was supposedly building Jacob's cabin, but how he seemed to think it would become his. Was he the one who built Ben's house? Did Jacob somehow lead Horace without him knowing it, and then let him die in the purge?

I've also wondered about halliwax. Lostpedia says his status is unknown. alive/dead/???

If he moved the Island he would have worn the parka when he spun the wheel. I think since its still in the Orchid, he left and didn't need it where he was going. I suspect he might be ON the Island still. Hanging out at the Temple?? or maybe he left and went to Portland?? maybe he died in the Purge.

It was too bad they killed all those great thinkers....

here's a weird thought. horace was in some sort of loop when he appeared to locke. maybe it has something to do with moving the island during the construction and even though it didn't kill him then he was still stuck in some type of loop

parkas and polar bears definitley go together. how did they get a polar bear in that chamber? maybe the polar bears hung out in the colder donkey wheel area? any ideas?

That's a cool thought. But in order to get to the Donkey wheel. Ben had to blow open the door behind the Orchid's teloport pod. I supose there might have been another way to get in there besides the way Ben did. Maybe the bears hung out in a room with extreame levels of unstable matter in it :-)

IMO we've only touched on the wheel area. I think there is so much more to that whole place than just a wheel stuck into the wall. Does turning the wheel also open up a chamber we didn't get to see? Also, with the white light being emitted was the parka not just for the cold? Was it lined with something that protected Ben from radiation or waves of some kind? Just some ideas I've wondered about. Was Ben's tumor caused by having previously turned the wheel?
We know that he doesn't tell the whole truth.

How about this:

The donkey wheel room hasn't always been arctic. The first inhabitants built the wheel room (crudely constructed). Either the island had "original" originals or the room was built by survivors from the Black Rock. Years later, Dharma stumbles upon the island and the "rockies" use the room to move the island. Dharma finds the island again, they beat hostiles back into hiding, then by discovering the unique properties of the donkey wheel room, they build a research station adjacent to it. By building the casimir closet on top of the entrance, they can harness its properties to send bunnies around space-time. Dharma NEVER intended to move the island.

As to the arctic nature of the room, it became so after the island move. Dharma used the hydra station to train polar bears to move the wheel in case they ever DID need to move the island.
