I forgot who Jack went to visit at the funeral? Was it his father or Sawyer in the coffin?

We do not know who was in the coffin. It was one of the cliff hangers.

I dont know what you are talking about. There was no indication whatsoever who was in the casket, and its very unlikely it was his father, considering that scene took place roughly 4 years after the present time on the island.

Definately NOT his father as the timeline wold be completely out of whack. He died before the island and thus would be a rotting corpse at least 6 months to four years later or whatever the case may be. I don't believe it would be Sawyer as there are hints that Kate is with Sawyer in the future. Kate says, "why would I" go to the funeral indicating there isnt much connection there. The altogether lack of people at the funeral, yet Jacks emotional disturbance makes it puzzling. Why would no one care they died but Jack does?

actually, we dont know that he actually died. We know that Jack saw his body in the morgue, but Jack didnt test him or touch him, so he could have been drugged or something like that. Also, when Jack found his casket on the island, it was empty, no trace of his father.

It is very possible that he is actually alive, especially after seeing the final Lost: Missing Pieces segment, which shows Christian talking to Vincent on the island before jack woke up after the crash...

It was the evil guy on the island. I forgot his name, but I bet it's the guy that is in charge of all the bad guys.

I would think the body would be embalmed before they shipped it out. That would pretty much confirm death...or not.

How do we know it's 4 years later? When was that referenced? I also agree that the father may not be dead. In the finale of Season 3, he may of been being sarcastic, but he said "if you can go upstairs and find my father drunker than me then you can fire me". is Jack's pop still alive? But, I don't think that he is the one in the coffin at the end of S3. I want to guess Locke, but I doubt he left the island.

Hubby thinks probably Ben. Could be Ben, that would explain why Kate or anybody else would not show up at his funeral. Jack showed up because now he wishes he never left the island? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think that it was Jack in the coffin. The funeral director asked him if he was friend or family, and Jack said neither. That would be why Kate would also not go to the funeral. It may be that when they got back, there was a time warp or somethng and that there is an older 2nd Jack. The people that got on the plane and came back cannot die. Crazy I know, but it's just another theory.

I tend to agree with that. It is Ben in the coffin. The coffin size is small, (See the overghead view of Jack standing in from of the coffin). Ben is not very tall and the coffin dimensions seem to suggest that. Locke is bigger.

More importantly are the reactions of Kate and Jack. Jack said neither friend or family when asked at the funeral home. When Jack asked Kate at the airport, Kate asked why would she go to the funeral.

Jack is trying to get back to the island. Jack told Kate they were not supposed to leave the island, (something that Locke was trying to convey to Jack; not to mention but Ben was using Locke to convince Jack that he should not leave).

Would Locke get the same response to his funeral? I think there would be people who would go to see him from his past life.

It has to be Ben. He grew up on the island so he would not have any connection to anyone in the continental US.

His group was beginning to question him as a leader so they would not show up. Plus, I think the origianl "Others" did not leave the island when the fight 815 passengers were rescued. They will probably demand Ben be removed though. This can explain Juliet's no-show in Jack's flash forward, as well as Locke's.

I too think it's Ben. I dont think Sawyer will make it off the island. He is my favorite but I think his "take on the world" attitude is going to get him killed. I hope not though. Any other of the originals that make it off, I would think they would have family and the other originals there. After surviving on an island like they have and building relationships, I cant imagine that they would go home and never see each other or speak. Gotta be Ben.
