Why is Daniel Crying

At the beginning of the Episode? Was that a Flashback or Flashfoward??? I don't understand why he is crying. Any ideas or theories???

I can't figure out if those were tears of joy (the video of the wreckage confirming a theory of his) or sadness (maybe he also has a loved one on board) I also have no idea if it's a flash forward or back.

Im glade soemone either thought or it crossed their mind as a possability that the four Flash backs where realy Flash Fwds. Well actualy. 3 seemed a Flash back it was actualy Daniel's FLash/Fwd that made me think it was a possable Fwd. Because I got the tears where from his past on th eisland. perhaps it's not a fwd. But at the same time this probly isn't his first time on the island. Or he has already spoken to Matthew Abbadon by some other means not yet menationed and knew that it was a cover up. But couldn't say anything. Like Jack in his Fwd. "Im tired of lying" Perhaps in this Flash back Daniel is tired of lying? I think I just anwserd my own question. Don't you hate when that happends. lol. That's a good conclussion. Daniel knew it was a lyie as well as a cover up then and couldn't say anything to anyone. Just like that fact has been driving our Losties mad in their Fwds. This is bothering Daniel in his FLash Back.

Theres a theory going around that this is a flash forward and somehow Daniels memory of being on the island was erased, since when he's asked why he's crying he says "i dont know".

significant things in that scene:
1. The reflection in the TV set is apparently of New York - Empire State building - so he is in NY.
2. The woman with him say 'whats the matter - have they found that missing plane'?
3. Dan is crying/upset and it does seem that he is upset but really does not know why? or he might know someone/a loved one/secret loved one perhaps, on the plane and can't tell the woman he is with in the apartment?

I think it must be a flashback to before he went to the island with Naomi, Charlotte etc. because when this team (lead by Naomi) go looking for the island they already know about the plane being found with no survivors.

But it is possible he has been to the island before?

Also - who is the woman Dan is with in the apartment when he is watching this news on TV?

I am pretty sure that this was a flash back for the newbies on the island, cuz why would they do three out of the four flashbacks? Also, anybody notice that even though charlotte had the coolest one with the darma collar, all of them had connections with the island in someway or another. Miles with the paranormal, Norris with his pilot buddies, and Dan is a crazy physicist. Just like the scientists that were probably around the island at the time of 'the incident' playing around with their physical phenomena.

i think they all have links with dharma but perhaps not ones they an discuss openly.

Maybe for some reason Daniel was supposed to be on that flight. Maybe all four were? We already know that the pilot of the helicopter was supposed to be the pilot for 815 that day....

haha i dono , i was just thinking about her blonde hair.. but then again i think she would have been more interested in the news about finding the plane than just saying something like "oh did they find that plane they were looking for?"
also i think she was preggers in cali last time we saw her... but maybe she moved?

First, I had no idea Jack's ex was pregnant. Is it his? Do we know? Because there are alot of pregnancy and baby issues going on.

That's what I thought.
I think it's pretty apparent that all four scenes are flashbacks to their lives before being chosen for this mission. There's reference to the wreckage having just been found in all four.

I also think that Matthew Abadon represents DHARMA Initiative. They want revenge against Ben for the purge but haven't been able to find the island...

Interesting and I agree except I'm not totally convinced Abadon is with Dharma. He could be with someone trying to stop Dharma and it looks like they have been waiting along time for their chance.

I think the unseen lady in the scene where Daniel is crying calls him Sam? Does anyone know what that means?
