naomi and the photo of desmond and Penny

Hi, no doubt this was thrashed out ages ago, but does anyone have theories on why Naomi had a photo of Desmond and Penny on her when she reached the island?

Penny (apparently) did not know who Naomi was - when she spoke to Charlie before he died and said it was not her boat.

Naomi was apparently working for this black lawyer (sorry forgot his name) on a mission to get Ben? perhaps?

Could it be that she is a double agent? Could it be that she has a different mission to the others on the freighter?

I think Naomi is working for Penny's dad. Therefore the black lawyer is an employee of Penny's dad. Could Penny's dad be working for Dharma or funding the company? I think yes.

ah yes I see. Of course. So the photo could come from the Dad. But why? Someting perhaps like 'if you see this dude Desmond while you are there please kill him too'?

You would have thought they have plenty of spare mugshots/pics of Desmond , but then that wouldnt be so intriguing would it if they didnt use the same old pic of him and Penny :)

perhaps thats because if penny turns up, they will know what she looks like as i dont think dad wants her to get there. and so rather than use 2 pics - they used 1!

yes I saw this mentioend before about the copies of that pic (a polaroid instant isnt it) and I think Penny made copies in one of the episodes way back when.

I think we all agree that there are a bunch of indepedent groups all trying to get to the island and trying to knock the other off in the process, with alot of misinformation being spread. I think they gave the photo to Naomi (who may or not know Penny) as a way to gain lostie trust. Remember, Desmond was already on the island, pre-losties( at least we are to assume) and they(Dharma, Hanso, etc) probably already knew he was there (or sent there)pressing the button.

Maybe they gave Naomi the photograph because they knew Desmond was there and figured he would probably be wondering who Naomi was... maybe she was supposed to be a mole and the lawyer really didn't anticipate there being any survivors on the island (as in they were already dead in the ocean or dead on the island...).

Maybe Naomi was suppose to infiltrate the Pearl where Desmond was and somehow get to Ben that way...

Which would mean she had to have a connection to Penny's dad... and don't you think its rather odd that her father has this contest to go around the world and Desmond does it with Libby's boat and winds up on the island??!!

well this "maxwell" geroup prob has loads of connections, where they can get anything. remember the ppl in the helicopter, that when the hatch exploded they were working for penny? if they knew where desmond was, then they could figure out he was on the island, hence they got a pic of him nd penny. idk, or... they maybe sometime this season, penny will come to rescue desmond, from the transmission in the season fanale... rememeber???
