Who has been tested

Jeremy, posed a good question in another thread. he asked if Walt had been tested. This made me wonder if and how any of ther Losties had been tested in one way or another for any other reason. Now I think that Jeremy was referring to a test similar to Locke where was choose from the items presented by Richard to determine if he is/was special. But, the others could have been tested for various reason and in different ways. For example, was Hurley being tested with the food? He gets rid of all of it and then right after a drop comes. Was he being tested when Dave comes and tries to get him to jump off the cliff? Was Michael tested and failed when he shot Anna Lucia and Libby? Has the whole experience been a test for Jack? Any thoughts?

Sounds reasonable for it to be a test in one way or another for other characters. I remember Boone getting frustrated with Locke and asking why they haven't been able to open the hatch yet, and Locke said that their faith was being tested.

Either that, or it could be some kind of game, with Jacob and whoever else as the opponents and the rest of them are simply pawns. There have been lots of references to games(paticularly board games); backgammon, risk, chess, etc. A few episodes ago, Ben told Widmore that he'd changed the so-called "rules," implying to me that it was a competition of some sort--perhaps with the island as the prize?

Knowing Ben, it might as well be a game to him anyway. He doesn't seem to care about the majority of the characters unless they benefit himself or the island.
