It looked like a car vac with a home made CD player jammed in there. I think it is supposed to attract a spirit to his general area so he could talk to it. In naomi's case he prob didn't need it since her body was still there. Speaking of which, whose grandmother do you think it was, nobody agrees that I think it was Walt's. What's your take?

I have to admit I found the device pretty lame. It reminded me of the thing Bill Murray had in Ghostbusters when he was sniffing around Sigourney Weaver's apartment.

I Thought It Might Have Something To Do With Electricity,it Looked Pretty Lame You Are Correct About That.i'm Not Sure If It Was Ecko Truthfully-i Think He Was Just A Drug Dealer That Miles Knew, how Else Would He Know That The Cheddar And Dope Was There.then Again It's Just My Guess On The Topic.the Show Just Showed The Pics Of The Kid Alot.has Anyone Went To The Credits At Lost-wikepedia To See If The Names Match For The Kid And The Kid Eko From Last Season.just Wondering.

Hey last thing i remember the device kind of looked like a shark maybe it has a relation to the shark behind Hurley and Abaddon on the chalk board. lol wouldn't doubt it, this is lost.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but I don't think miles is messing around with that ghost whisperer thing, so I'll leave him alone. But I do think the reason he won't let anyone know his last name is because its really long and foreign and weird sounding.

Ben said his last name when he was telling Locke and everyone who they where and that he had a man on board. He said all of their full names.

thats what it made me think too which is what made me mention ghostbusters when i was watching it LOL!
it looked like some kinda vac thingy - maybe it was something to do with spirits being attracted to electrical, white noise kinda things. it was pretty pap regardless!

Thats why my cat used to run like hell when I turned on the vacuum ! Animals have that six sense.
But seriously, i think Robo nailed it.

I would like to add that I think the Cd player in the vac would likely create a magnetic field of some sort in keeping with the general theme, sorta opposite to the one that keeps smokie and jacob hostage-like.
