Everyone's got to have one, unless your some kind of weirdo who doesn't read.
It's hard for me to choose with all that I've read, but I guess I'd have to go with 'Flowers for Algernon,' quickly followed by 'Misery,' and 'IT.'

I read this when I was in high school and it scared that crap out of me- The Shinning. I have read many books since but that one really scared me. I think the movie was great too.

I think my favorite would have to be "The hunter's blade trilogy" I know thats more then one, but you can't really just pick one out of a trilogy can you? the book's are written by R.A. Salvatore, and I encourage all of you to read them.
What, you want me to pick just one? I'll narrow it down to three:
The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson
Little, Big by John Crowley
The War of the End of the World by Mario Vargas Llosa

That definitely is the funniest book I've ever read. I laughed like a maniac all throughout. And I'm sorry to say this, but it pissed me off what they did to Jenny in the movie. I don't get it, really.
What's your favourite part from the book, boutte? Mine is the whole saga with the ape, space travel and Raquel Welch. I literally laughed myself to tears.

Don't say Harry Potter, DD!!!! You'll incur the wrath of Bunny and Jelena!!
I loved Lord of the Rings and I read Raymond E. Feist's books, fantasy series on a massive scale and my greatest inspiration.
Oh and LT, you do realise that God didn't write the Bible, yes? Nor did Jesus, Hitler or Santa Claus. We wrote it.

What did they do to Jenny in the movie?
What was Jenny like in the book?

For starters she didn't die in the book, so there wasn't even a hint of that sad overtone. This is the only thing that bothered me, even though the movie Jenny and book Jenny differ a lot.
I recommend you read it U.P. I think you're going to enjoy. It's not long, and it's sooooooooo much fun.

SpaceBar technically you are correct. But if a secretary was taking notes for her boss would you say they were her notes or her bosses?
If you were to read the entire bible there is a single theme throughout. Would you say this is a random event that despite these books were written over a very long period of time in differnt parts of the globe but somehow manage to have a single theme as just a strange coincidence.
Or the fact that they all acknowledge a supreme being in their writings.
So yes, technically they physically wrote the bible but doesnt mean all the thoughts came from them.
The bible itself says that all the things written in it were inspired by God. Why would they put that ni there and not want to take credit for themselves if in fact they really "wrote" it?

Because then it would rightly be considered just another book written by people?

Hm, I've never read Stephen King's books. I tried to once, but just couldn't get past the first chapter. Don't remember which book it was. However, I love movies that are based on his books - except for Dreamcatchers. That one just sucked.
I have lots of books that I love, and among my favourites is LOTR.
But I never realized I loved Sci fi,until I started reading Arthur Clark.
Has anyone read "Childhood's End"? I think this one is his best. What a brilliant mind.
I also love "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. Dick.
And there are also numerous others, but I might get to them later.
