short circuit was on TV earlier so we put it on for about 15 minutes to have a little giggle at it (how was it ever such a big hit - we were easily pleased in the 80s!) and in the synopsis it mentioned fisher stevens and i thought - no strike that, i shouted (lost tourettes kicking in again) that his name has been in the credits for lost recently so i imdb'd it (right - who called me a nerd?!) and it turns out that the guy from the mvie who does the ridiculous indian accent is actually the guy who is the voice of minkowski on the other end of the phone talking to jack.
