Why exactly have Ben and Widmore been battling for all these years. I have predicted before that Ben saved Annie's Life during the hostile invasion. So what if Widmore met Annie and this is or was Widmore's wife. There are many tales of death from one parent or killing of one parent Jack and Claires Father , Walts Mom , Kates Father , Sawyers Parents , Lockes Mom , Bens Mom , Charlies Mom the list goes on and on. But I say it using the childrens parent that died because this is my thought on this theory Ben told Annie to leave she, she later meets Charles Widmore the two have a child Penny Widmore. Annie dies either giving birth and Ben seeks revenge or holds him responsible much like his father did him or he killed her to get at Ben to expose the island. Annie may have told Widmore about the island due to the fact that the hostiles killed her parents and ben is now one of them.

Or maybe she was pregnant with Penny and Ben told her to leave and Charles took on the role as step father. Much like Walts mother did with him. Charles then tried to find Linus so that he would not find out the truth or him being Pennys father or run the chance of Penny looking her. Charles wanted to make sure it never happens.

I like your theory a lot, Buc. Can you just imagine the look on Ben's face if he found out Annie was/is Widmore's wife? Ben also wants Penny killed in retaliation for Alex's death. Oh, how juicy your theory can be if true! :D
