we see locke going into the submarine and looking for a good place to put the c-4 but as he is walking away from the sub towards jack and the others when the sub is about to explode he is soaking wet anyone know why ?

I just rewatched that episode this weekend. They show him going into the sub, and we are supposeed to assume he is putting the C-4 in the sub to blow it up.
But why would he be wet is a good question. My theory is he moved the sub and swan back to set up an explosion, but didnt actually blow it up.

I agree with this theory.

Here is a post with more information.

Maybe this was one time John, used his head, and thought about one day needing transportation off the Island. And with what we know after season 4, maybe thats how he got off the Island.

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

I've also read theories that Danielle Rousseau helped him move the sub.
I don't think it makes a difference if she did or not, but still it's an interesting idea.

That is interesting, I've heard we may see some of Danielle's backstory this year, and we should find out if the sub is still intact when we find out how JOhn left the Island.

I just rewatched again myself and have a different opinion. I was thinking that Locke actually put the C-4 on the outside of the sub to blow it up. I figure that he would make sure it was completely gone that way. But, whose to say. You could be entirely right that he never blew it up, although I think that would be out of character for him.

Could it be that Locke swam under the submarine and planted the bomb under it?

To sink any type of vessel, an easy way to do it, is to strap it to the outside and blow a hole to the inside

Haven't rewatched this one lately, but I agree that it would be out of character for John not to blow up the sub. He is a true believer and when he thinks he's doing what needs to be done he's all in.

I agree with the swimming to place the C4 on the sub. It probably would have been better if Locke threw the sub in drive to let go until it runs out of gas; he kind of wasted some explosives if he got rid of some transportation enabling the OTHERS to get goods to the island.

What's with all the blowing up of things? Technology is cool, but I guess some African tribes don't think so. Although, they do have cell phones.
