View Full Version : I have been a little under the weather lately

I have been out of commission for a while. On August 23, about 3:30 AM, I went out side to ask the neighbors if they could be a little quieter. I met up with someone going behind my house to relieve himself. I kindly asked him to use his own backyard. After a little verbal back and forth I saw it going nowhere. I turned and continued on towards the front of the house.
The next thing I know the little punk blindsided me. He punched and kicked me in the head at least 5 times. I went unconscious at that point. When I came to he and his buddies were gone. I made it back into my place called 911. When the cops showed up they told me that they picked up someone nearby matching the description. It was the same guy! He was dumb enough to picked for disorderly after assaulting me.
I was unable to make it to the booking. I sent a proxy. The defendant plead not guilty and paid bail. Today was the pretrial. I did not miss that. May be I am old fashioned, but when you go to court, you should dress up a little. This guy wore the same T-shirt and flowered shorts that he was wearing when he was arrested. Anyway, he plead guilty to assault (misdemeanor reduced from felony) paid a fine and got some jail time.
So that's what I have been up to.

Oh, my word! I feel SO BAD for you! It's bad enough going through an assult, then having to go through the rest of it in court in order for the guy to get what he deserves must be so taxing on you!

You really wonder what gets into people...are they just plain evil or just plain stupid or what...

Well, we'll certainly be sending our good thoughts your way and praying for you too. That's just so awful. :(

Keep us posted on the outcome of the trial, Lost.

Glad to hear you're doing better. That could have been a real bad situation. You are lucky . Don't you almost feel sorry for people like that because they just don't get it that there is such a better and happier way of life. And they're missen it. I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around. It may take time but it does happen. Hang in ther Lost! Good Luck! ;)

Sorry to hear about that. At least they caught the guy. You should bring a civil suit. Even if he doesn't have anything you can hassle him for a while.

Thanks for all your support and advice.
I found out that "the suspect" tested positive for Meth. He claims not to remember anything. He got 90 days jail - 81 suspended and probation for two years. The judge broke his sentence up into 3 day stays. This bugged me at first, but I guess he will be tested for drugs each time he goes back into jail. He has to show proof of attending rehab.
He has already paid for my glasses that disappeared during the incident. The money came out of his bail. The rest ($500.00 total) is his fine.
I did go to the ER and a follow-up at the Dr. (twice). It was my first time at a GP in two decades. I could not eat for five days after I was clobbered. I have since gained back the the weight that I lost.
On the bright side I was to sick to smoke cigarettes. I am now on Nicotine replacement lozenges. I did not bring that up in court. I thought the defense attorney might want to take credit.
All in all, just another lesson in life.

Glad to hear that you are doing better and feeling closer to good health. What a shock! Take good care of yourself and be sure to return to the doc if something doesn't seem right. Don't take any chances with head trauma!! Makes you want to get a fake police siren that you can broadcast outside at about 200 decibels if the hooligans ever come back.
