View Full Version : A Few Things to Clear Up

Everyone who keeps debating about who is in the picture in the house that Miles goes to in Inglewood needs to go back and watch that scene because they are missing the point entirely...
It is not the picture that is important, it is the frame(s)... upon watching it a second time, one can easily tell this by seeing how they show the wall of pictures before and after Miles goes upstairs to do his business. The frame is a bit bigger with some textures before he goes up and is much simpler when he comes down...
I think this is one of the major points in which the show is directing the audience that there is an element of time travel, time branches/alternate timelines, and/or other dimensions at play. While it seems that he is thought to be a ghostbuster, he has obviously changed the course of events in the reality of the woman's house so much so that these frames are changed (and quite possibly many other things we don't get to see)...Whether or not his machine does anything or is just there to provide white noise is up for debate but perhaps that is what is really screwing with the space/time continuum apart from his own supernatural powers... I would theorize that the machine puts him in a different plane of spacetime (almost as if he was able to edit reality) which is then manipulated by the fact that he takes the money but doesn't take the drugs and the reality he returns to downstairs has changed because of this....
On a completely different note, I think it is entirely possible that Naomi is still alive or that she has a twin and that twin is still alive because the voice on the phone right before they discover that Juliet was not on the plane sounds exactly like Naomi and perhaps there was never any code (which could explain why Daniel didn't seem quite together when Miles was explaining this)...another point to note here is that I'm pretty sure that Abaddon never says her name when they are talking in her flashback...
Hope this gets some people thinking, let me know what you think about all this

OMG - Wowee thats something there bud!! When Miles comes down the stairs after his ghostbusting - the frames on the pictures are all different. More expensive. The frame of the boy before he goes upstairs is made of rope as if to signify poverty.
Another small point I nocticed was that on the message/pin board behing the granmother in the kitchen is a leaflet to do with Photo Restoration. Probably significant.!

If someone can post the pics of this that would be great I have already watched this episode 3 times and I was so focused on the actual picture of the boy I totally missed this.

Maybe the rope frame signifies the boy being " bound " to earth because of his secret or unfinished business. When Miles contacts him he is released and the frames return to normal. Is that why the Grandmother knew she needed someone with paranormal ability? The changes in the room are strange.

My God, that really is strange, I'm gonna watch it again now tonight!
You have to watch each LOST episode at least twice to pick up on things you didn't see first time round!

this is mentioned on the theories thread and its fascinating!
i was wondering if it meant he was changing small details in the future or if its possible he had inadvertantly created a paradox at some point using his gift?

I just rewatched this part. All the pictures on the stairs appear differently. When he comes down the stairs they seem to be happier in a strange way.

I just watched it again and the frames ARE different! It's so subtly done! I'm finding it hard to get my head around the time travel aspect, it'll get easier!

Oh this is such a great post!! Good eyes whoever caught that!! I think this makes so much more sense than a ghost whisperer (which honestly I hated that, I was really hoping they weren't leaning towards ghosts)...I can't wait to see where this is going!:)

Still, it does seem that he communicated with the dead.

Why not both. It did seem he was speaking to the dead and his hoover car/vac wth CD and 5 disc changer was working( that was so weak). Do you think he's got appetite for destruction by G-n R loaded in that thing? Because "welcome to the jungle" would have been fitting when Lamo landed like a sack of potatoes onto the rock. He thinks he's Dirty Harry too.- what a tool! Just what we need bill murray with a license to kill. "Who you gonna get...GHOSTBUSTERS!-Weee!!!!!

Yah and (correct me if I'm wrong) but he didn't have his hoover vac in the woods when he was talkin to dead Naomi did he?? Hmm...

Maybe when you have fresh "meat" he doesn't need the hoover vac/CD player because the spirit is still hovering around????

I don't think he had that lame thing with dead Naomi Dz. I had this epi on in the background trying to replay the stairwell scene. As you can tell I dislike this character even more. In the opening scene i would love for Kate to just turn around and shoot him in the ass the next time he opened his mouth.

I think it has a tie-in to Michael and Walt. There is a reason Miles is so pissed at Ben. If he time travels - he may see what Walt becomes. The Oceanic 6 seem to have issues, for the worse, when they are off the island. Who is to say that maybe Walt - who we know supposedly left the island, did not do the same thing? Maybe he hit the skids and Miles can go back to change that. After all, Walt is somewhere on the island at least we think??????

If your saying that Miles went to Walt's grandmothers house, then I thank you chimp. You are the only one who has agreed with me. I don't see why that possibility can be dismissed so quickly.

It makes sense. We know that Michael was a "dead beat" dad. who is to say that maybe we are seeing the before and after of Walt?

and.....the grandson was murdered,,,so could it be that the body at the funeral home is walt??? and the time travel would explain his showing up to save John Locke..
james220
02-12-2008, 02:41 AM
But the pics on the wall don't look a thing like Walt??? Ya think??
the chimp
02-12-2008, 02:42 AM
I'm not sure Walt was murdered. Just like Ben was brought to the Island when he was young. Was Michael in the same situation? Was he offered the same things that Ben's father was? Maybe they were lured (I think thats how you spell it) with the same nonsense as the Others. If it is Walt (or probably Michael) then why haven't Kate or Jack aged. Its not difficult to grow a beard, but it is difficult to explain Walt's "sudden" growth. By the way - anyone know hwy Jacob wears such white sneakers?

I totally agree spartygirl. Why is that such an impossibility? We are the three amigos! LOl

Maybe the grandson was not "murdered" but kidnapped? Did Michael take Walt? Kind of like Desmond going missing. Nobody knows you're alive - everyone thinks your dead. So is her grandson really dead? The picture did not look like Walt, but then again it could be her perception of Walt. We have only seen our version of Walt - which is young Walt and the other Walt that Locke saw. Who knows?

It is not walt's house, nor is walt in the coffin...the producers have said that contrary to some people's opinions of the screenshots, it is in fact a full adult size coffin... i know it's hard for some people to imagine that they could show a black person in a picture and have it not be a black person on the show but i think that is more than likely what happened here... and the reference to walt being taller is merely an inside joke to the viewers since it is impossible to have a child on a television show stop growing, it was there way of referencing people's complaint about him aging and saying "hey let's move on from this because it's not an important point"... and michael was not a deadbeat dad...his wife left him for another man and then walt was left with him when she died...he may have been an overwhelmed father at that point but the real deadbeat dad in that situation is walt's mother's widower because he said he didn't want to be around walt because he was scared and couldn't handle it and thus dumped him in michael's lap

The paradox concept is so true to what Lost is all about. How could most of the situations have happened without a paradox element?
