Jack’s dad Christian is the man in the rocking chair 100% for sure. He is a part of the island even if he isn’t jacob. Heres the rules of the island. You are there until you complete your “task” then you get to die. I say Christian has a lot of pull on the island, and you don’t get to die until Doctor Christian says so. Look back at the ppl who died and realize what they accomplished before kicking the bucket and youll see they overcame their personal conflict. Example: Anna Lucia was all about revenge, after she broke that streak and couldnt kill ben, she died. Charlie was about to die so many times but lived till he could warn the lostaways. Look at Echo, shannon, shannons brother and the rest of the dead ppl and youll pick up on the same thread. Z feel free to rip on me for this but, each conflict resolved by each of the dead characters I brought up represents a similar conflict in Jack and his fathers relationship. It all boils down to Jack and his dad and everyone else on the island is connected and along for the ride. The only way they can get off is when Jack and Pops make nice, and thats why he needs to get back to the island…

interesting theory and i like the fact that nobody can leave until they resolve their many issues.

what tasks do you think the rest of the survivors need to complete and why do you think the others are so interested in some of them? do you think they are aware of christian?

yea my theory is that once you come to peace with the island, nd who you are... you basically die..

Yes I agree with this theory. But it also makes me think, if the people who make peace with themselves die, then should the others all die too? And were they all supposed to die in the first place - but then that's like the purgatory theory again - don't mind me, I'm just typing as I'm thinking!

100% agree, except for the part about Christian. But this is the theory, with similar ones on other threads that I'm stickin' with until they throw another curveball. It would explain the most important question as to the desire to get back. You cannot die in peace if you leave the island. The island is that last place for redemption. It' almost like you are already dead when you get there.

I don't think I want to go to a place of redemption containing man- eating polar bears, do you?

Good theory. if it's true, then sawyer probably dies because he overcame his personal battle when he killed Locke's dad, which means there's a chance he's the guy in the coffin/he isn't one of the Oceanic 6.
