I remember hearing this, not sure how accurate it is but I do remember hearing this.
I know that doesn't help you confirm anything though, some help I am! :p

I'm pretty sure I've heard that we have seen Jacob, aside from the flash of him in "The Man Behind the Curtain." I'm not sure about the not speaking part though.

Didn't we see a flash of him sitting in the rocking chair in the cabin? And we heard him say "Help me" to Locke?

If memory serves, the flash of him sitting in the chair used a stand-in because the role of Jacob was not filled. I believe they used the prop guy. I also remember hearing that one of the producers did the voice for Jacob when he said "Help me."
In other words, that brief flash really gives us no indication of who Jacob is - typical of Lost, right?

Actually Ort, it was the camera man's eye at the window that was a standin for Jacob. If you go to your favorite photo site you can find the picture of Jacob in the rocker. It is fairly detailed, in that he is dressed similarly to the Others, in tattered looking clothing. As for the voice over, I don't recall that but that just means I probably forgot!! LOL!!!

That Jacob was the prop guy: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Rob_Kyker
I don't know about the eye, but if that was a stand-in too then I'm totally lost.

You got me now! I thought the eye was a standin. Okay, so the Jacob in the rocker was a standin and Cuse did the voice! Have they actually filled the position yet?
