Has it been said anywhere that the hatches may have been built underground to keep out Smokie? The Smoke doesn't seem to be able to break into things like that. Even the pilot had to be halfway out of the wrecked cockpit for Smokie to grab him. Just a thought.

If memory serves, the pilot was emerging from the broken cockpit window and was sticking almost half his body outside of it, then he was grabbed by Smokie. Jack, Kate and Charlie were completely inside the plane wreckage. When they started to run away they had more of a chance of Smokie getting them.

In one of the You tube videos the supposed Dharma scientist is saying that an incident or accident happened in the trans or multi dimensional realm during experiments. That seemed to be referring to Smokie. Something got "caught" on the edge of one of those dimensions..... In another video clip the writers are saying that Smokie was actually, purposely, doing something good when it attacked Keamey and crew. That may be a hint at why we need to reserve judgement about the goodness or badness of Smokie. What does it "know" that we poor fools don't know?

So, smokie may be something or someone that was caught between dimensions in some DI experiment? Interesting. Maybe it was some sort of exchange where one person/thing went one way and another to where they/it was. In other words, could it have been an experiment that involved Jacob and Smokie changing places or something to that extent? Very, very interesting. As for smokie doing good when it attacked Keamy and crew, then what about when it attacked Eko? Good there also?
I haven't had time to look at the videos yet and I don't know if I will at all in the near future. Thanks for explaining what they were about.
