Has anyone considered that there is a big gap in time between when Ben gassed Dharma and when 815 crashed? it has to be around 30 years or so! What was happening on the island during that time?

-We know the original others recruited Ben to gas the Dharmites

-After that, was it just a blissful 20-30 years at the barricks?

-Probably during this time they killed Rosseau's colleagues and took Alex, for kicks and giggles

-Henry Gale crashes in a balloon

-Eko's brother dies in plane crash on the island

-There were a couple of guys from time to time in the Hatch, going outside to pick up the food drop (or work on Des's boat, lol)

-The others went off island to do some "things" and recruit scientists they needed for experiments, and namely Juliette for the fertility issues

-Otherwise, it had to have been pretty boring with no real purpose for being around

Yah thats actually a good question, I mean I'm sure thats why people like Charlotte might be searching for Dharma stuff.....all the people in the Dharma Initiative had families (many of them were told to lie as we saw in the Orchid Station video) so I'm sure those families are wanting to know why their relatives are missing? Maybe we'll find out Charlotte had a parent or something on the island? But yes I think they may decide to fill in those gaps...hence showing a picture of Ben which looked to be taken 10-20 years before. Great observation lawgiver! :)

i am not sure when the purge happened - possible late 80s as it seems to ahve been before rousseau arrived on the island in 1988 but i think the sickness her crew suffered is an after effect of the purge so not too much before her arrival.

if correct, this means there has been less than 20 years between the purge and the crash and although we are aware of some of the events that ahve occured - there is a lotta time we dont know much about yet.

My sense it was quite awhile, but don't recall a specific reference to use in the time line to help.

I think the purge happened in the 70's. Ben was young, probably 18-22. His Dad was driving a VW van with a tape player (8-track?). In his flashback, it looked like Ben was born in the early 60s or so. How old is Alex? They took her as a baby. Is she 18-20 or so?

Anyway, I think the gap is a minimum of 20 years and up to 30 years. For all that time, was Ben presenting a smoke screen that Dharma activities were ongoing?

Yes but the Dharma videos all say copyright 1980 on them...so I would assume the purge happened a little AFTER the videos...so probably mid 80's or the end of it?

well i think he was as the guy in the hatch was still there when desmond found him and i am sure this was MUCH after the purge but i am still not sure if the barracks dharma and the hatch dharma peeps were aware of one another.

Your right on TLG, It never even occurred to me, but it was right there. There is just way too much going on to remember anything.

When LOST ends (never, please), maybe the gap years will be a spin-off series! What will it be called:

Ben's Island

The Dharma Files

The Others

Black Rock

The Four Toed Foot

Tom Freindly's Playhouse

And good call on the copyright Ms. Bunny. It still looks like at least a 20 year period.

My theory is that they are either the crew (and/or cargo) of the Black Rock or their decendents. When Ben first meets Richard, Richard is dressed like a peasant at the Reinasance Faire.

bunnydixon

there can be only one!!!!

joking aside - there is definitely a link to the immortality issue! and maybe a bigger link than we realise as kelvin is the same guy who plays the bad guy in highlander!!! (i am such a font of random trivia!)

Dzbabykel
