All credit is due to Beachblinkette...this deserves its own thread. Please take a moment or two or ten and read this. Nothing scientific, thought you will see where it belongs. Just a great read about where the entire Lost show has come from.

Beachblinkette googled A Bubble in Time and found this site:
www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/timebubblegalactus.htm[/url]

Beach wrote the following:
"It shows a space ship flying into a time bubble created by a black hole and warping time around it. If the island is in a time bubble, it would explain the moving of everything inside that bubble.

It mentions a time bubble with a 15 year loop and a black hole.

It mentioned space pirates, a Kang nebula, and time sled. There's time travel jargon like the "Heisenberg Effect Neutralizer, Kurtsberg Drive and redundancy existentialators."

Most interesting to me was "The Time Variance Authority who oversee the multiverse to prevent paradoxes." (Dharma?)
"
It also mentions the Nexi--"those beings in each reality who are absolutely essential to that reality's very existence." (Richard?)
Was fun to read...."

I answered:
"Beach! It sounds like you found the very essence of the show that TPTB used! OMG! It fits perfectly!

The island in a time bubble - that's how I described the time difference going back and forth to the island. I said that leaving you stretch the time warp, which is why it takes longer and going to the island it is faster because of the EM attraction and time warp. When I described why Daniel's experiment was different than any other time effects that makes sense. It pierced the bubble like I said it pierced the time warp. A bubble works!

The 15 year time loop and black hole! Wow, okay. TPTB have given up the word wormhole on the commentary on the dvd's. We have already said time loop over and over again in our own loop! LOL! I think the loop will be bigger, maybe 50 years or something. You know, back to the DI days. The black hole is the wormhole! Works!

Did you mention pirates and a nebula! OMG! How many times did I post that the Others were pirates from the Black Rock? I am not sure what a time sled is but I wonder if that could be the Black Rock. And you know, we have mentioned the Crab Nebula so often! And that time travel jargon mentioned. Well, TPTB just opted to use real physics theory because they know how smart we all are and can't be fooled. Another part that fits! Holy cow!

The Time Varience Authority, well that's easy. That would be Mrs. Hawking and Brother Campbell at the least. We have called them time lords already!

The Nexi...I'm not quite sure about that yet. It could be how the DI and our losties fit. Without them, each dimension would not be the same and would have a differenct reality.

You have really found GOLD!!!!! Given TPTB affinity to the comic book classics, this is the holy grail. I can't wait to get to the site you found this on! Thank you!!!!

So, I also just found this after going a step further...I think it would relate to Ben and the smoke monster....

Marvel Comics, character The Shroud...I think Ben is the shroud...the Shroud thinks of himself as the good guy, the hero. Now, read what I found...

The Shroud possesses the mystical ability to summon the absolute darkness of the Darkforce Dimension by opening a mystical portal into the Darkforce Dimension and drawing its thick, inky atmosphere in various quantities into Earth's dimension. This darkness is not simply the absence of light, but the negation of it. No illumination can penetrate it. It is unknown how much of this darkness the Shroud can summon at once. He can blanket a small auditorium in darkness within several seconds. The darkness he projects does not fill a volume instantly: it is possible to see its hazy boundary move like thick, black smoke in the air. There appears to be no limit to the length of time the Shroud can maintain the darkness. However, if the Shroud is rendered unconscious the darkness seems to be naturally drawn through the portal from whence it came.

The Shroud has control over the darkness so as to create hazy-edged, featureless black shapes with it, the complexity of which is limited only by his imagination. For example, he once created two tiny discs that covered Captain America's eyes to prevent Dansen Macabre from hypnotizing Captain America. These discs were so small that they were indistinguishable from the pupils of his eyes. He frequently forms the darkness into his own shadow in order to serve as a decoy. Unlike Darkstar's Darkforce, the darkness possesses no mass, and unlike Cloak, the Shroud is unable to travel into and out of the dimension from which he draws his darkness.

The Shroud possesses a mystical sense of perception enabling him to "see" even through his own mantle of darkness. This mystical sense gives him psychic impressions of his environment within a radius of about 100 feet of him. Not unlike Daredevil, the Shroud can receive non-visual sensory impressions through solid objects. Thus, he can perceive people and objects in the room next to him with the ease that he can perceive the contents of the room he is in. The Shroud notes in Spider-Woman I #15 that (unlike Daredevil) he cannot read, he apparently does not have that Max Carrados' style sensitivity of touch that enables DD to read newsprint based on its feel compared to the rest of the page or its impression on the rest of the page. The Shroud recruits Spider-Woman to infiltrate a SHIELD facility so that they can access the files. Spider-Woman notes that though the Shroud's mystic senses enable him to detect what is inside (i.e. the hardware components) the computer, the Shroud cannot read what is on the screen.
The Shroud is an Olympic level athlete with extensive training in several fields of Oriental martial arts, and is adept at acrobatics and infiltration.

...Not to mention good with a little black stick!!!!

Just a word I found about the Darkforce Dimension:

It is a powerful, extra-dimensional energy (and possibly a sentient entity) that can be manipulated in slightly different ways by a handful of beings that are attuned to it. There are slight yet inconclusive hints that it may be a corruptive influence of some kind (at least to Cloak, possibly to Darkhawk as well) and perhaps even sentient. At least one darkforce user (Quagmire) is from the parallel universe of the Squadron Supreme instead of the main Marvel Universe. DC Comics has a similar dimension, called the Shadowlands, from which characters such as Obsidian, the Shade and Ian Karkull draw their powers.

The Darkforce's origin is unknown. Some stories suggest that it is actually matter from a parallel universe that may be accessed by mystical means. Its first appearance was in August 1976's Champions #7, where it was shown as the source of Darkstar's powers of solid energy projection and flight.

It seems to fit Ben and smokie pretty well, don't you think? Considering we already are very aware of Damen Lindelof's love of comics, well, maybe it was just his subconscious remembering this stuff! LOL!!!

There's another character in Marvel that has to do with all this and I think that we will be seeing her either next season or in the last. The character in the comic is Darkstar. She is a Russian spy. A very interesting character. Check her out and I bet we'll see it happen! Afterall, we already know that there is a new cast member, a Russian female spy type. Hmmm.

This really does seem to be the blueprint of the show. Thank you Beach! You are the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am doing my HAPPY DANCE!!!!
