Ok so im still confused. How is it that the island has reverted to a state of the past yet it will have elements from its future in it?

Okay, I'll see if I can explain it for you. When the island "reset" or went back into the past about 40 or 50 years (we are just assuming this is correct because of the promos you know, it's not fact yet) it went back the same way Des does his time traveling. The producers call it time jumping. What they are saying is that the consciousness of everyone on the island has gone back with the island. Obviously, you need a physical body also. We are assuming that their physical body went along with their consciousness into the past. That could be our mistake though, but for now I'll just say that's what happens. So, their consciousness and physical body is about 50 years in the past on the island and they are with the DI. Then that would mean that anything they may have done up until the point that they actually got to the island (for instance when Richard recruited Juliet and they brought her there by sub) will not happen. For Juliet, that means that she will not help her sister to get pregnant because that was something she did in the past before she came to the island.
The only problem is those that are too young to go back 50 years. I am beginning to wonder that if their consciousness goes back further than they are old, then will they become a whisper? No physical body for the consciousness to occupy. I think someone brought that up already. It is a good point.
I hope that I helped you and didn't confuse you more NavyGuy.

That poses a problem cuz the only people who's consciousness would go back 50+ years are Rose and Bernard

See, this is my big problem with this idea. Most of the cast - Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Charlotte, etc - are anywhere from late 20s to late 30s. Having their minds revert 20, 30, or 50 years into the past will just not work - unless it means their minds are completely wiped clean or something.

If the island has indeed gone back in time to when Dharma is alive, then my best guess is that the islands present has merged with the islands past. So I would guess that everyone who is on the island in the present will remember everything that has happened - even though they've gone back in time.

I think of it like the present cast is Marty McFly in the time machine and they go back in time. They still have full memory of everything that's happened, they've just merged into this past life.

I like your point about the Whispers that could be what they are!

I don't know. See, the whispers always talk backwards. That's got to fit into the equation of what they are and who they are. Are they these sprite like spirits fliting from dimension to dimension? Are they going backwards in dimensions? Too many unanswered questions. If it is the consciousness of people that could not travel the spacetime jump maybe they talk backwards because they are trying to go forwards. Did I just say that? If the consciousness is too young to occupy the new timeline in the past maybe the consciousness would naturally try to go back to where it belongs in the future, so it would sound like it's going in the other direction, backwards. Huh?

I think the entire space of the island that includes time, people, places, etc of 2004 are cut out from 2004 and placed into some time in the past 30-50 yrs. the island we know kinda absorbs into this past island. For example. In the Bible when old Earth is finaly cleaned of sin the orignal Heaven will come down and replace the old Earth making it pure again and a new Heaven will be revealed. Something simuler could have happend in LOST except in this case. The old island in the past will be considerd the pure land and replace the infected old island of mistakes. The people that have travled into time their body and mind ,etc will be the same they will be able to remember their entire life. This is what Locked called a second chance at life. A second chance to make things right so you would need to know your past so that you would be able to correct the future. This event is beyound the golden rule that Mrs Hawkins stated that you can't change Destney or Fate. The island has given the Losties this ability to change things some how some way.
