I've been watching season 4 on ABC.com getting ready for January. My confusion is... why does Richard ask young Locke what items he already owns? Is he asking John that day because he feels that it was a time when Locke was visiting his past self. (desmond flashes) Or was he asking because Richard knows young Locke can see the future...there was a picture of a smoke monster, hole, and a man. Richard asked if he drew that.
Also the comic book that Richard shows Locke has a city in a cloud on top of another city. The look like the same city. Is this a clue that the island is kind of like Back to the Future 2, where if one thing different happens in changes the course creating a alternate reality?

Richard asks young Locke about his possessions because he has been there before. In other words, Richard knows that Locke has already lived the experience and he was testing what he remembers. I think that there is supposed to be a point where Locke will change the outcome, at least maybe Richard believes this, because he will not choose the knife but the Book of Laws instead. I think Richard is waiting for this to happen.

Exactly Locke chooses the items he knows that he will select and because he didnt choose the Book of Law. Alpert already knew the fate of the island because Locke choose the knife so he forsaw danger ahead and the island would probably not make it with Locke.

No offense, but why are you still on this site and not home with your family? You aren't alone are you?
