Why was Daniel crying?

When he saw the planted plane, why was he crying? Did he know someone on the plane? He hasn't said anything since he landed that would indicate why he was crying!

Hey TQ. How about this thought. It seemed that his wife (or someone) was caring for him. Almost like something had happened to him and he was recovering at home. How about him having a mental breakdown. His nerves were so shout, he could not handle seeing the news.

Just anothe LOST theory!

If I'm remembering the beginning of that episode, doesn't Dan whisper "I dont know" when his wife(?) asks him why he is crying? What could that have been about?

Yeah I still think there may be more to Daniel crying about the plane than just having mental problems. Or it could just be that simple. But nothing is ever that simple on this show!

Perhaps he has some theory about that area (in a previous thread I compared the island to the Bermuda Triangle and Daniel being a head case to some of the scientists who study that) or already knows some secret about the island and somehow the plane brought it to life and he was overwhelmed.

I went back and watched that scene again....its def NOT Helen (Peg Bundy) but I think its going to be someone we have seen before since they didn't show her face. And she didn't look like a caregiver, more like a wife or girlfriend. But thats just my assumption.

I'm not absolutely positive, but at the beginning of the episode didn't they call him "SAM"? Which would make since as to why he was crying....His Fiancee was on flight 815.....Find815.com I am almost positive they called Daniel-SAM

No. She called him Dan. Sam is another character that you can only see at 815.com.

Maybe Daniel was crying because he was just cutting onions prior to sitting down to watch the news! LOL

okay don't laugh and I shouldn't even say this without re-watching the "crying" sceen but let me throw this out there. And for all of you who have re-watched the sceen please poke holes in this WAAAYYY out there theory...
Haven't you heard something funny / obsurd and laughed so hard you started to cry? Perhaps he found the finding of 815 so out there and ridiculus that he started to laugh and in his hysterics started to cry... and that's what we are seeing?

U know what I realy overlooked that maybe he does know someone on the island. Hes gotta be connected to somebody on the show. Everyone is connected to someone some how, I wouldnt mind sein more flashbacks on the 4 frieghter people or maybe one of Niomi.

I know, but if you look back at the scene where he is watching the news and crying, that is where I think they look like each other. Not so much when he is on the Island, just that scene when he is crying on the couch - look again.

I really don't think so because they show Naomi choosing the "fantastic 4" and she's obviously dead now so I think they were definite flashbacks....just giving us a background of each other characters like they've done all the others.

I think this show is going to get way harder to follow than we think. They are starting to mix flash forwards and back together in sets, so we don't really know which is which untill we know what those flash"es" were about.
