I believe Richard recruited Ben to the others becuz he believed that Ben can see dead people ( Ben told richard he saw his dead mother in the jungle) Now i think richard knew about Jacob but had no way of communicating with him, so he got Ben. I Hurley has the same ability and Locke may have a similar ability hence richard's attempt at young Locke. I dont know, just a thought.

I've always had a feeling that Ben and Locke are actually half brothers, and that the island originally took Ben because Locke wasn't ready yet. I know that this is an old theory, but it's just too much of a coincedence that both of their mother's names are Emily, and they were both born prematurely. Maybe when Lil' Locke didn't pass Richards test he realized that they would need a substitute until John was ready. So the island called on Emily again (who must have some connection to the island in her past).
Right before Ben moved the island he told John that he was sorry for making his life so miserable. That's a pretty drastic statement for 108 days of misery. What if Ben knew Locke was meant to take over, and had been messing with him his entire life; indirectly causing all of Locke's hardships.
So I don't think that Richard just picked Ben because they happened to run into each other, and Ben was special. He knew that Ben would be out there that day, and it had been the islands plan to use Ben as a stand in untill John was ready.

Not impossible. Ben did see his supposed dead wife, and in a previous podcast the producers made a big deal about saying that Ben's mum was Not the smoke monster. They also made a big deal about saying that "Dave" was not the smoke monster. (If you're wondering what I'm talking about the smoke monster has been known to take form of other people: including Walt, Yemi, Christian etc)

So this means that Ben and Hurley saw a dead person, and they are also the ones who can see Jacob.
What about Locke? He saw Boone a few times and this was confirmed not a smoke monster apparation.

The only reason I am thinking this is possible is because if you go to Lostpedia and look at Smoke Monster encounters (http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Monster/Theories) you will see the only confirmed sightings of people who should not be there not being the smoke monster are to do with Locke, Hurley and Ben... also the only people who can see Jacob.

I was just wondering, since you are so sure, where do you get your info? Can you leave a link for the podcast from TPTB saying Dave and Elizabeth are not the smoke monster? I would love to listen to it. I haven't heard too many of them. Thanks. By the way, the info you quoted from Lostpedia is just someone elses theory. That doesn't make it so or correct for that matter. Just FYI.

I think it would be a huge twist if we find out that ben and locke are half brothers....also i think we will start to see ben become more of the protanganist and hero..i think the writers want us to think he is bad but is really good

Always doubt Lostpedia. It's just fan info and input just like Wiki is input from anyone. Lostpedia is not the be all, end all of info for the show. There are many, many errors in it. Sorry. I don't believe everything I read there.
