when sayid frees ben/henry from the net in the tree....ben runs and rousseau shoots him with an arrow.

Now - why did he run? he had sayid listening to him and could have gone to the camp thit way. he took a big risk running as what if rousseau had missed and sayid had not followed and he found himself free?

was it purely for TV purposes? to keep us thinking he is henry gale at that point?

Maybe when Ben saw that it was Sayid that had come to get him he had an idea of what was going to, and did happen. He might have been actually trying to get away at that point because he knew there was a high chance of him being tortured. I'd imagine that Ben falls into the "you can't die because the island needs you category", so what does he have to lose by making a run for it.

I agree that he wanted to be captured, but maybe Ben saw that trap and thought that Locke had set it; so he let himself get caught. Then he saw Sayid and Rouseau show up and realized it wasnt a good spot to be in.

And I still think Ben is in the "category" because the tumor never killed him, the island brought Jack to save him. The tumor might have been Jacobs way of telling Ben that his time was done.
Remember when Ben and Widmore said they both knew that they couldn't kill each other? I took that as meaning the island was keeping them alive, like Micheal was.

Don't give me to much credit. I had never looked at it that way either, till you got me thinking. :)

What about Rousseau knowing he was an Other? She was telling them he was a liar and not to trust him. He knew the gig was up.

i think i was getting muddled - there is a point when he is captured because he wants to be and i thought that was it, which threw me, but i think its actually later on im thinking off lol!

my poor head!!
