With all the boar being eaten, our 815ers likely have worms. In TX, Hog season is in the winter largely due to the cold weather killing off the amount of parasites. I'm not sure how much cooking or heat it requires to kill em all. Just a gross tidbit of info i had to share...

eeewwww. Never thought of that. We do our butchering in the fall and winter. But we've roasted pigs for party's in the summer. You just have to be carefull. Hey, we're takin Miracle Island here so the boars probly DON'T have all those nasty little things! ;)

ya, I'm sure if you cook it to a crisp, it'd be fine.

Would you get worms from eating the meat?
Wouldn't it be more of an intestinal thing?
I've never noticed Locke making any sausages.

yes, I think its in the meat. idk how, but that';s why i never eat the wild hog stuff. deer i'm ok with....its great, but hog is a dicey one to mess with for me. like i said, the winter keeps the worms to a minimum and there's prolly some special cooking temp. or something for it to be safe and edible without the worms....
