I've been watching season 2 this weekend and there was a moment when Kate was feeding Sawyer after he came shot with the Tailies that I totally forgot. Right before she was feeding him Sawyer slowly moaned that he loved her (we all thought referring to Kate) to Jack. Then while Kate is feeding him he wakes up and grabs her neck choking her and yelled, "why did you kill me" This was also the episode we find out how Kate killed her dad.

My question is, is this some work of the island or is this a mysterious occurance we're meant to have forgotten about?

Yeah, I always wondered about that too. I'm probably no help here to you, but I think it was supposed to be something speaking to Kate, like the garbled voice on the telephone that prompted her to check on Aaron. Something that only she would encounter. Sawyer was not actually "taken over" by a spirit of Wayne whats-his-face.

A side note: People have said they thought the black horse was some sort of image designed for Kate's benefit. But Sawyer also saw it, and before Kate did. I had always thought that horse was just another stray animal like Frank's cow.

Oh my God! That never even occurred to me! That is a really good observation! I'm gonna have to watch all this again!

I always just figured it was somehow Kate's father (the one she killed) coming back to haunt her, like so many things on the island tend to do. Esp since it is the episode where we find out that she killed her dad (not even her step-dad like she had thought!)
