no , that is not how he knows he knows this because mrs. hawking told him so . but she definately could be dan's mom . so if that becomes fact then you are then correct . who knows.

The rules don't apply for Desmond, if you remember he saw flashes of how charlied died and was able to prevent his death a number of times.... Desmond is able to see things (possible as Miles) is able to see things.

Daniel answered one major question in that episode. Why Mikhail would not die! (or stay dead) Mikhail would not stay dead because you can not change the past so that leads me to believe that Mikhail had traveled back in time to what we perceived to have been the present. He existed in future events so his destiny could not be altered because it already happened. The laws of life and death were bent per say since the laws of time can not.

Mikhail was a time traveler? But if he was, when he is killed, he is deal. He can't be killed twice, only James Bond can do that! Seriosly, lets do a time line of his two deaths. The first one is at the force field wall thingy. Doesn't Locke push him through the wall abnd it kills him? What ever way it happened, he died at the wall. Then, we see him again later more than once. He would have had to travel forward in time to those events and then back in order to do them. If you think about it, he can't travel after he dies at the wall now can he! He would have had to travel before he died in order to do it.

However, lets say he traveled forward to the time he blows up at the underwater station, if he dies while time traveling, he doesn't return back alive. How could he?

It would not surprise me in the least to see Mikhail return. For one we are time jumping so I am sure he will make an appearance in the past and secondly when he blew himself up he was way too smug about it almost like he thought he would be back again like before.

Check back and see. He's the guy who gets killed in a construction accident on the street. Hawking's points him out to Des. Then all of a sudden there's a crash, bang, boom. All you see are the red shoes under a bunch of construction debris. Des gets all upset and asks why she didn't warn him and that's where she tells him YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE FUTURE BY CHANGING THE PAST. The golden rule of the show.

That's why time is relative....
Einstein's Theory of General Relativity. Time only relates to the speed of light. Time is not linear. It is like a web. It is made up of two threads that are woven together. Space and Time. Therefore, it is spacetime. You have to have an "x" coordinate and a "y" coordinate to know where and when you are. That's why time can bend and fold, etc.

mikhail did not die at the sonic fence because he ses to ben in that the sonic fence was not on powerful enough so he survived it watch season three back i think its the episode when locke goes to see jacob with ben.
