The O6 Lying is BS to the Max!

Ok so been thinking after watching the part where they are talking about their lie on Penny's boat. What difference would it make if they lied or not Widmore knew about the island knew 815 crashed one it cause he faked the ocean crash, and two cause he sent a kill team to go there. Thus having some people come back and not implicate Widmore at all but do just the opposite would mean clear sailing for Widmore. Then he can freely search for the island again and even though the 1st time took him a while i bet the 2nd time wont take nearly as long. Just a thought what do you all think.

If the Oceanic 6 hadn't lied about the crash and The Island, the government/media would have launched investigations into who, how, and why someone faked the crash at the bottom of the ocean. This would have put Charles Widmore, Benjamin Linus, and/or The Island itself in the hot-seat, and would inevitably force their hands to deal with them one by one before they could expose them all. I said, "Charles Widmore & Benjamin Linus" because we still don't know which of them faked the crash -- they both blame each other. Regardless, they both possess the ability and resources to fake a plane crash, so one would assume they also possess the ability and resources to have the O6 hunted and killed one by one, in order to keep them from helping the media/government find out about The Island. Am I also missing another reason why they had to lie?

Shouldn't it have already raised questions about the fake 815 plane? I mean if these 6 were actually from 815, who was the people they found, should have been came up.

I think it kinda did because they said only 8 were alive and then 2 died which left them with 6.

I mean regarding the whole 300+ people they found. They fake 815 had every person on the plane dead. Questions about who is really on the bottom of the ocean should have come up. But I guess that wasn't a major point so...

The fake 815 was never brought up from the bottom of the ocean, so noone could actually disprove the O6 lie.
