when desmond was pointing the gun at faraday, shouldnt have desmond remembered faraday from his past? he did go visit him at oxford and stuff before he came to the island.

He did question whether he knew him, as if he had briefly met him in the past. And I would also suggest that there seems to be memory problems with some of these time travellers also, but, Faraday himself says that since Desmond did not recognise Sawyer when he first saw him on the island, he could not possibly meet (have met) him in the past.

Desmond first met Daniel in 1996 at Oxford when he time jumped to give Dan a message. The next meeting was at the door of the Swan when Dan knocked on it. That was why Sawyer couldn't do it. Sawyer had not yet met Desmond but Daniel had. Obviously, one of the milder side effects of time jumping is poor memory and therefore Des didn't remember Daniel. That's also a very big clue about Daniel Faraday. He has a very poor memory...hint, hint....time jumper!!!

Absolutely! Just like it took Des a while to remember that he met Jack at the Stadium when they were both running the stairs. I think that Jack said a phrase he had used back then and that triggered Desmond's memory of him.

Des met Charlie when he was time traveling after the Swan imploded. I am going out on a limb but I don't think Charlie's band was quite the type of music Des may have listened to. After all, he became a monk and all. Doesn't sound like much of a hard rocker to me. I could be wrong.

Desmond definitely recognized Charlie as Charlie from the island. Desmond recognizes him and then there was a flash of the hatch failure - so he was subconsciously linking it together.
