Sorry if I missed the answer to this someplace else, but what about Walt?

does he need to return to the island with all the others? If I remember correctly, Locke went to see Walt as well as the other 6. For some reason Ben has not said anything to Jack about Walt. Or, can it be that Walt is not needed. And does Ben know about Frank Lapidus and Desmond, and how to get them all together as well?

i dont think frank and desmond need to go back as they are not survivors from 815 and i'm not sure about walt either. possibly not as he was not on the island at the time it moved?

i dont think walt needs to go back, they never did mention him. also he was allowed to leave the island, while the oceanic 6, were not allowed to leave and werent suppose to leave the island.

As per explained by Jacob and passed on to Ben to tell Jack/Michael/Locke that he was "special" there is a reason he needs to go back, it would destroy the story if they didn't atleast kill him off..

if walt does not need to go back that means he has done what the island needed him to do. What did he do though? Obviously the O6 have not completed the islands tasks, whatever they may be, hence Jack trying to kill himself on the bridge but it didnt happen. Locke was able to die probably because his task was to reunite the O6 and have them return

Yeah, Walt might make up for losing Hurley. That's provided if Ben can find him and get past his grandmother.

great question....

They know where Walt is, so I'm sure they're keeping tabs on him. As for Desmond, if Ben finds him he finds Penny and that is going to an interesting scene to say the least since he promised Whidmore he will kill her.

I was thinking about Walt the other day and wondering basicaly the same thing. If there was compensation to the crash victims (or their families) did Walt's grandmother get money? Walt is going by and assumed name isn't he?
He is just as much a part of the "secret" as the 6.

If Walt does have to go back, doesnt that mean that Suns daughter also have to go back?

That's a really good question! Also, Sun saying to Kate that they want Aaron. Why? Would they come after Walt too? And what's the point in Walt being special if he's not appearing on the show?

No, because Michael and Walt came back and are not using thier real identities, they are not recognized as survivors of Oceanic 815.

I thought it was stupid of Walt to expect the 06 to try and find him when they got back. He's using a different name, Walt would have had to find them if he cared that much.

Nothing important just something that made me say " Shut up Walt". But I definately need more Walt on this show, he needs to explain alot.

In almost every episode with Walt in it i want to say " Shut up Walt", for me he is just annoying, but still there are so many unanswered questions about him that I goess he will returm eventually.
But wouldnt Suns daughter be kind of special since she was concieved on the island and all the women who got pregnant on the island died, but for all we know no pregnant woman ever leaved the island.

#1. Walt is not known by Oceanic, as stated before as Michael did not tell anyone who they are/real names. And I don't think we know whether Walt or his Grandmother has come forward on that. In fact I think the last we heard from his Grandmother was, she didn't know where they were exactly.

#2. Walt had to take tests, he said when he was held by the "Others". And they had stated that Walt was "Special". However, as has been discussed before does this mean he was looked at as a possible new Leader, or something else for the others? Is this why he was tested, etc? If that theory is true, then why would they let him go? Granted, they could bring him back when they wanted to, but my thought is that he was not the one they were looking for and so it was alright to let him go. The "Others"/Ben can keep tabs on anyone and can bring him back if needed too.

But remember Walt was able to show himself to Shannon and other characters? He has a much larger role than just having someone keep tabs on him.

Going to throw this out there- not in a real religious way, but in a basic way:
Maybe Walt is the anti-christ of sorts (Dead birds? Ability to show himself?). Or maybe a character similar to that of Arthas in Warcraft III (except Arthas had a choice, not so much a destiny). Hes a child and cannot harness his true power and purpose yet, or he hasnt been presented with his own destiny yet. Maybe Locke went to Walt as Richard did to Locke. Locke has to gain power on the island before it is threatened by Walt and Richard wanted to make sure Locke was the "bearing" (as defined by young Locke picking the compass) and not the "threat" (as defined when Richard was miffed young Locke picked the knife).

Did any of the O6 know that Micheal was on the boat outside the island, well if they did then they should have tried to get in touch with Walt, and it wouldnt have been that hard. He is living with his grandmother, and wouldnt the first place to look be at the closest relatives?

And that thing about walt showing himself for shannon, could that be some sort of timpe jumping? he dissapeared as soon as he got there, and there was no trace of him, and didnt he also talk to michael while he was captured and michael was in the hatch?

Hurley knew that Michael was the spy on the boat. He was in the house when Ben told Locke's camp Michael was his spy. As for why they didn't contact Walt after being rescued, I'm assuming they all wanted to move on with their lives. Kate was trying to raise Aaron, Jack had his issues, Sayid was playing hitman, Sun was living in Korea, Hurley was committed to a mental institution not too long after rescue.

We don't know for sure that Walt was the one communicating with Michael through the computer. Its likely the Others were doing the communicating so they could lure Michael out and use him to free Ben and bring Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley to them.

I think that Walt does have to return to the island. Remeber when he went to visit Hurley in the nut house and he said that Jeremy Bentham came to visit him? I don't think that was just a social visit.

My thinking is that Walt will be an essential part in getting the plane the O6 + Walt are on to make it to the island. He is obviously gifted at making things that fly crash, right? Dead birds?! That's my thinking as to how they will break through the "atmospheric bubble" that protects the island.
