This might of been asked before, but in the last episode, were they traveling in the past or future.

In the beginning, the camp was not there, so they were traveled in the past.
Then the next time, they find the blown up hatch, so they traveled in the future.
The next time, they find the hatch still there, so that means they traveled back to the past.

Am I missing something here or was it totally random whether they traveled in the past or future.

I think it's random and I think it's because it's dangerous and unpredictable and I love your avatar.

I think it's a bit random, but at least it seems it doesn't seem to be going into the past and then further into the past again, rather than just switching from sometime before the crash to sometime after.

I'm just wondering at some point will they ever run into their selves?

Maybe not into themselves but I don't see why a "time jumping" Sawyer couldn't run into someone else from the plane crash.

But then again, if he (or anyone else did) wouldn't the logical thing be to tell that person about the time jumping and the other stuff with the island?

Well I was going to say that maybe it was impossible for them to be in the same time, but they were at the hatch after it was blown up.

Yeah that'd be an interesting convo. I'm thinking this could happen.

just a point they may not have traveled to the future when the hatch was blown up, that could have been in the past too.

The only way this could happen is if they talk to a character who dies before getting the chance to tell the others about the time jumping. Remember, you can't change the past or future when you time travel. So since no one knows about the time shifting, we can say that they don't run into themselves and explain it.

Well how about this then, maybe they don't run into anyone else but they do run into themselves at an earlier time. They explain what has happened but that they cannot repeat this to anyone else. All they can do is try to NOT do a particular thing in hopes of changing the future.

Think about it, what would you do if you saw yourself (a future self) and your future self told you what was going to happen in the future but that you SHOULD NOT - MUST NOT say ANYTHING to ANYONE ELSE . . . EVER. However your future self tells you that at some future point instead of doing "A" you do "B". What would you do?

Even if you wanted to tell someone else you saw a future you, they would probably all think you were nuts. Of course, given all the weird stuff going on on the island, maybe they would believe you!!!!

It seems it is possible to change the future to a certain extent. Desmond changed the way Charlie was going to die. It was just predestined that Charlie would die.

Also, in the orchid orientation video, the two #15 rabbits were in the same time and place. This would suggest that the people time jumping could be in the same time and place.

I believe that this is one of the reasons certain people (like Ben) are so mum when asked questions. He MUST NOT tell them certain things, for fear that they might do "A" instead of "B" as it was supposed to happen!

One other note: Two of the same self must NOT run into each other or something catastrophic will happen. This is why Candle blew a gasket when Bunny #2 fell out of nowhere close to his other self, bunny #1.
:cool:Think about it.
(and btw, Ort is very smart. I'd pay close att'n to his posts, man. ):)

They will not run into themselves because there is only one of them on the island. Stop thinking in terms of two people in two different times. It is the same person in a different time. The time traveling bunny was an experiment by the DI. It was not a direct result of the exotic matter.
