So who was shooting the flaming arrows?

I'm surprised this mystery has not been a big topic. I'm not sure what time zone the Losties were in when they were attacked on the beach. I think the last flash-of-light time-jump occurred when Daniel was talking to Des. So it seemed unclear where in time the Losties were. So who shot the arrows? And explain. Show your work.

Others/Hostiles?
Henry Gale?
Rousseau's team?
Ancient four toed society?

I think that if those military type guys who caught Sawyer and Juliet were Rousseau's team, then that may mean the Purge hadn't happened yet. And if the Purge hadn't happened, perhaps the Hostiles only had their rather primitive weapons to work with rather than the guns Dharma had.

That is a good question. Not sure who it is. I don't think it is Dharma, does'nt seem to be their style. Also with all of the arrows coming down, it had to be a large group of people. It could be the hostels or some other ancient people. Correct me if I am wrong .............After the flash with Daniel and Desmond...was there another flash? If not then the group that attacked Juliette and Sawyer were in the same time as the arrows. The shooters couldn't be that ancient. I will say this to the flaming arrow shooters...........THANK YOU! Without ya we should still have to listen to Frogurt! Good thing they kept him in the background this long!!

could be, but i found my dad's old uni from the Korean war (he was in the 187th) and it looked eerily familiar.

But the main guy who did all the talking sounded as if he were British-type, maybe mercenaries from the 50's?

187th from fort cambell kentucky?? they releived my unit in Bosnia in 1999. I was with 1-87 from the 10th MTN.

I noticed the dudes with the od green uniforms are running and shooting the arrows at the same time. This isn't a task that can be easily mastered. ( or maybe it is, i never tried). Me thinks they are still natives/hostiles but have acquired the surplus of supplies from their vanquished enemy combatants.


Perhaps, after getting uniforms from dead soldiers, they are wearing them to fool other patrols. or, they have infiltrated the DI security force with their stolen/comendered equipment. or, I am wrong.

The flash with Desmond and Daniel doesn't seem to have happened to the other losties. We don't see it happen to either Locke or Beach folk like with the previous flashes and Sawyer asked Daniel were he had been for the past 2 hours when he returns to the beach. The swan station is only a 15 minute walk. I think either Desmond or Daniel had their own personal time travel.
And I think the archers were from the Arrow station. The use of flaming arrows could have been used to intimidate and scare but not kill everyone.

I think the arrows might be from the hostiles that the DI was fighting with. The guys in the uniforms might have been a military branch of the DI. Didn't the guy ask Sawyer and Juliet what they were doing on "our island"? I'll have to see it again but I thought I saw a Dharma symbol on their uniforms.

Either way- Frogurt finally got his fire!:eek:

I don't think you need to see those flashes with every single scene to know it is happening. I think when Des and Dan had that flash we have to assume that the rest of the survivors had the same thing happen.

This is why when Sawyer gets back to the beach he never gets his shirt. They traveled back into a time before the crash.

I don't know what Daniel was doing during those 2 hours. He may have gone exploring.

They may also be an earlier Widmore mercenary band, evenually killed off by the Others/Hostiles. They seen to be extremely paranoid (the others/hostiles never act this way--always in control).

I think they are the original inhabitants/hostiles who killed Russeous team and took their uniforms and guns. Cutting peoples hands off and claiming the island as their own seems like something hostiles or primitive people would do.

I thought Rousseau's team were scientists and also a small group. Why would they have military uniforms? However, Rousseau was constantly wearing fatigues, so maybe they had fatigues or Rousseau stole hers from these "other" guys. She did say that her group developed "the sickness" and she killed them off.

Wasn't Roussou pregnant when she arrived on the island? Alex was what, 16 years old. That would mean Roussou's boat got to the island in around lat 1980's or 1990. I feel that the survivors last flash to the past was further into the past than 1990 or so.
