At the end of Episode 2 (Season 5) The Butcher Lady and Ben are talking and the lady makes a refernce about "Jeff & Gabriel" who is she refering too, any thoughts....?

I'm pretty sure they might be the guys who tried to kill Sayid. Did you notice how surprised Ben looked when Jack called him and told him he was with Sayid?

That's what i'm thinking. They were the two guys who tried to capture Sayid, remember they were using tranq darts.

Maybe its an example of how the island wants them to some back. Ben may have been surprised things were moving as fast as they were. Who knows?

I thought they could have been the two guys who went to Kate's with the court order to get blood samples from her and Aaron to establish maternity.

I loved that scene in the butcher store. It was just like Charlie's memories of his father the butcher! TPTB have hidden lots of small little touches like that throughout. Charlie's dad, the butcher, While Ben was a captive of Locke's asking if the bunny that her was about to eat had a number on it, again Ben as captive remarking, "What, no hamburgers? when he was brought his food, etc., etc. There are lots of them throughout the show...

Are you sure the butcher and the lady in the church are the same? The lady Ben met with in the church looks a lot like the lady that talked to Desmond in "Flashes Before Your Eyes". I'll have to rewatch them but the lady seems to know quite a bit about what's going on.

Yes, they are two different people. The scene with the butcher lady (Jill) happened midway through the episode, not at the end.

My guess is that Jeff and Gabriel are the "lawyers" that asked Kate for a blood sample. The guys that jumped Sayid were killed, and Jill said they checked in and everything is on schedule, so it couldn't have been those guys. So, at this point, I can only assume they are the lawyers. Of course, they could be people we haven't been introduced to yet.

The lady at the Church is Mrs Hawkings. The butcher is not the same person from what I can tell.

I agree that Jeff and Gabriel were the two in the hotel, but they were not trying to kill Sayid they were shooting darts at him so that he was incompacitated and would be easier to bring back to the island. I know that the story telling is going to be different without any Flashbacks/Flashfowards but I am curious what Sayid has been doing the last 3years and why he no longer trust Ben.

I don't think that Sayid ever trusted Ben, he wanted to get back at the people that Ben said had something to do with Naida's death. Even though that could still be Ben. He does have a way of convining people to do what he wants. Maybe Ben wants Sayid to kill Penny and he knows how Desmond feels about her and just couldn't do it.

I agree with that. I say that is what happened with Sayid and Ben. He couldn't kill Penny.

To me, the butcher shop connection shows the vast network of loyal followers at Ben's beck and call. Not only does he have people on the Island who serve without questioning, he seems to have an abundant resource of henchmen on call 24-7 off the Island as well.

I think we're seeing more than just a crime syndicate type of operation.
