What if the rabbit scenario, where the rabbit returns too early in time (?) while Chang is holding it, is a foreshadowing of what will happen in 70 hours if the 06 can't return to the island? If one little rabbit can freak out Chang then what catastrophe would a whole island of people create? (Ms. H: "God help us all!") Let's say they have to get back not just to keep their buds from dying but to keep themselves and everyone else in the world from dying? If they don't return in the correct time at the right longitude and latitude, could there be a massive matter/antimatter mix that would destroy the Earth? In other words if hey don't get back, their duplicate will appear on the island or the island will appear where they are. They will meet themselves in space and time--a paradox, creating an anomaly and setting events in motion to destroy the Earth or more. Will this be how Ben gets Hurley, Sun, Sayid, Kate, Jack and Aaron to go back? That everyone they love or care about not just on the island, will die otherwise? And once they return, it seems as Ben told Jack, "you are never coming back!" Is Jack going to die, too? Of those who are now off island:
Walt lost Michael
Aaron lost Claire
Kate lost Sawyer
Jack lost Kate
Sayid lost Naomi
Sun lost Jin
Hurley - lost Libby
Ben lost Alex
John lost his life
They have all lost the island.
When the scientists said that the numbers were a key to predicting the end of the world/doomsday,did they not know that were they looking at a mathematical solution instead of a problem? Punching the numbers kept the world safe, Desmond WAS saving the world. Maybe they aLL HAVE TO RETURN to the time when John chose not to punch in the numbers, SO THAT Unique, not-bound-by-The Rules Desmond, CAN RESET THE NUMBERS INSTEAD OF John FAILING TO DO SO. Once he resets the numbers, as he was doing faithfully, the island can be moved to a place where no one will ever find it and the 06 will be there forever. And what will happen to Ben if he truly can never go back?
I doubt that this is how the story ends but it raises some points. The issue of not being able to change the past, however, is a problem that makes these ideas seem improbable. Thoughts on this anyone?

I really and truly love this, Beach! Best yet, and what I've thought all along.
We've all been directed elsewhere over the seasons, but this is what it will all come down to, I really really believe. Yes, this is the MUCH GREATER ISSUE INVOLVED. The entire world. and what you posted about the Locke/Des scene, I think Des' statement - "You just killed us all!" was precisely that --UNLESS IT COURSE CORRECTS. And Des will be doing this over again. (wait, did I get that right? Now, I'm becoming befuddled...)
And he WAS told, "The only important thing you will ever do is push the buttons." (right? Something like that, right???)
Lastly, when all is said and done, whether one thinks in terms of "good guys" and "bad guys", the ultimate goal is to save the world.

PLUS....
If we can believe TPTB, they already showed us that some will find short-lived happiness, but they claimed that in the end, very few will actually live happily ever after, if any.
I think they'll remain on the island until they die and the last two will be those skeletons. (?)
what will happen to Ben, you wondered, if he can truly never go back??
Well, I think he CAN, but if not, I don't see any sense in killing him off, so he'll probably just go on with his quest to return ...or maybe find happiness with a lowly physical therapist who loves him desperately... :D
Thanks for your comments LOCKEing,:)
That last statement will certainly make ONE person very happy!!!LOL
Haven't we all spent so much time trying to think about how it will play out? They are beginning to answer questions and the adventures are going to be wonderful this season. I'm really excited!!
The writers always manage to tweak things just enough to keep us off balance, so I don't know how much of what I posted will happen that way but .....if even part of it is true, then the long and torrid "mind meld" of writers, producers, directors, characters, critics, and fans has worked!! It will be glorious to behold!!!
I don't really need a happy ever after ending. What I want to see is that some of our heroes, like Charlie, redeem themselves. We will see.....

Beach, one major flaw here. YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST OR THE FUTURE!!!!
I don't think that the time traveling bunny was a foreshadowing of the losties time jumping. I think that was just where the DI, aka Dr. Cheng, was in his experimentation with time travels. Don't over analyze. I think we may have a tendency to do that because every little tid bit could mean something big. The only thing is, I do think we have to accept certain things at face value. Like was once (well, more than once) said in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy....DON'T PANIC!!!!

Ahhh, heck, you mean I haven't solved the mysteries of Lost? Darn!! Every time I post a theory I know that it is just my little dart hitting the giant Lost Dart Board of Wacky-Wack!! ( I like that!) Even the writers called the happenings "wacky" in their preview to the new season!! Did you or anyone ever see the TV movie 100 million BC? They had it on the sci fi channel in the afternoon yesterday. In it the scientist makes a very concise statement about wormholes, Closed time-like loops (circles, curves?) and keeping the wormhole portal open for time travel. They go back in time to the usual dinosaur time and then they have a device that they use to reopen the wormhole and travel back. Someone-the hero- has to remain behind and die tho, so the portal will not bring creatures from the past to the present.Do you or anyone think Ben's item could be a portal device?

Beach, I don't have a clue what's in Ben's box. Maybe that's the magic box he told John Locke about! LOL!!!! I have said before that I think Ben's batton will have something to do with time travel. Guess we'll have to see about that one! By the way, yes that was a great old flick. I work during the day, though sometimes you'd never know by all of the postings I manage to make while I'm here....ah, working. One day I will buy my own computer so I can leave theirs alone on the job!!! LOL!!!
If Ben's stick has something to do with time travel what if he gives it to Jack to go and save the island. Ben stays back as the "hero" and Jack time travels back to........the crash and wakes up in the jungle with it by his side!!!!
Ben knows he's really no hero because it's all going to just happen again anyway! Ta Da! End of Lost!
Hello all
Could you remind me what episode/series Dr Chang time travelled the bunny...would really like to catch up with that episode.
And I can't fully remember Ben's stick - did he take it with him when he pushed the Donkey Wheel.....
thank you:D

What if they have already gone back in time before and made sure the button was pushed. This time through Locke for what ever reason made sure it did not happen. So now they have to go back and fix what has already happened in the past. So if they fix it and it was suppose to happen because it already happened they really are not changing the past just making it like it was before.
