i hope so, something like when he gets off he tries t suicide but finds he cant. then decides to fake it, or mayb he learns of the spider venom through contact with niki and paulo

With the introduction of time travel, the entire death of Locke is up in the air. Locke is a mortal human so he must die, but who is to say when he died? All that we know at this point is that his body is at the morgue under the name of Jeremy Bentham. Who is to say that after he dies in the future, Ben doesn't travel back with his body to the time we see him in the morgue and plant it. An intreting note on the whole Locke/bentham thing. Both are english philosphers and social-reformist Locke was very much in favor of the concept of natural rights, while Bentham detested the notion of natural rights. I feel the the true secret to Locke's character lies in the relationship between the two names he was given

They used the venom to "make him look dead" that was from the medusa spider via Nikki & Paulo. So he ain't dead :)

I don't think he's actually dead.

Remember in "The Constant" when Desmond consciousness time traveled and his body stayed? I think that's what happened to John. Which would explain Richard's test with all his items when John was a little kid. Richard is trying to find what time John's mind is in so he can send him back to the present.

I don't think that just because he's dead means he'll stay dead. They were never really clear on it, but after drowning, Charlotte Malkin came back to life. Maybe Locke just needs to go back to the island to do this.

Now this is a little different.
What if John Locke is not even special? Because he is a known sucker perhaps he was manipulated by the island to be the sacrifice that John thought Boone was? His dad suckered him in for a kidney and when he was living in the commune growing dope, the undercover cop already had him pinned as being easily conned. He had a crummy job in a box company.
I know i always liked John and wanted him to be really special but you never know.
Johns past was alway mediocre,his redemption could come in the form of sacrifice for the island as a whole. Perhaps he is only conned into thinking he will be the leader.
The point about the spider venom could be possible and i like it quite a bit.
