im having trouble coming to grips with the whole island disappearing to the 06 before the chopper goes down
daniel, in episode 5.01 states that either the losties or the island are jumping through time....well in either theory..especially first one..the island would still be there in 2004 just the losties that were on it at the time of donkey wheel turn would be gone. the only logical answer, i guess, is at some point back in time they set of a chain of events that in fact caused jughead to go off therefore no island.

also on a lessor note i noticed in same episode that locke seemed to jump twice while the other losties remained in same warp.....could the jumps happen at different points to different people.

lastly where the hell are bernard and rose.

I think that the island only moves physically in reality, which is why it disappeared in 2004. There is still an island in the future because Richard from that time witnessed Locke's vanishing act.

As to why the Losties are time jumping, I believe either the island or Jacob have become "sick" like Desmond was, but on a greater scale.

I think the only way it can be explained is that it is again cloaked in some fashion. The time travel only seems to affect the handful of Losties and "rescue" gang and Juliet.

If it moved physically, then there would have been a massive rush of water to fill in the immense hole from where the island was previously.

There were rings of water moving towards where the island had been after the flash.

I like the cloaking theory... Didn't the men in Penny's tracking station suddenly "see" the island on radar when a window opened up temporarily? I think this was when the hatch imploded, the release of electromagnetic energy causing a temporary uncloaking.
