Howland Island….between Australia and the US…although not south of Indonesia it is in a more probably route of direction the Oceanic flight should have been going leaving Australia to return to the US…..so lets get a move on writers, the strike is over…bring us a character named Earhart that is somehow linked with the new group of visitors or the Dharma group. haha

LOST possibly one of the greatest drama's in TV history

That would be an interesting spin/history lesson.

It's been brought up in the find815 game. I would love if the tie it into the show some how.

I'm pretty sure the older lady who is with the Others (season 3, episode 1 - the scene with Juliette and the burnt muffins) name is Amelia. There you go.

lol...I've always been amazed by that story so for her to be tied into lost would be awesome, for me anyway.

Maybe that IS Amelia Earheart on the island, but still wouldn't she still be a lil bit younger looking with island time n all?

Do you want her to still be alive and not have aged? This kind of reminds me of Norther Winslow in Big Fish.

I thought mybe that was her in the cave in season 1. Wasn't it Jack who found the bodies when he was looking for fresh water? I think they called them Adam and Eve though

The Amelia Earhart theory has been floated out there but can not be proved until further info comes forward. And yes they are called Adam and Eve.

(Edit) crap ! that was my 100th post and I didn't even celebrate.

Now that is an interesting twist. Thank you for looking that up. Now how about those poor guys from Flight 19 out of Fort Lauderdale? Their names were Ethan, Tom, Richard, Goodwin and Mikhail.

Are you serious james? I can't tell, because that would bring the Bermuda triangle into play and thats just too much for me right now.

There is a geographical area of ocean (triangular in shape) near the island nation of Bermuda in the Atlantic where supposedly dozens of planes and ships have disappeared over the years. Apparently once a vessel enters this area, it risks losing all communication and power, etc., etc., ...

and don't forget that the bermuda triangle is just one of i think 12 so-called "Devil's Vertices" throughout the oceans of the world, and there is one said to be in the south pacific pretty close to where 815 is thought to have crashed originally... thus one need not worry about the bermuda triangle being in the atlantic, there are plenty more where that came from.... just something to think about

this is awesome, i started this thread because of what i had remembered from history and thought it was interesting that it was in the same area that LOST had flight 815 crash in. but i totally forgot about the amelia lady from season 1...so thanks everybody for all the cool info and input. one thing is for certain i am glad the writer's strike is OVER and the creative juices of the LOST writers can continue and we can continue to over think and theorize ever episode...haha

Because her disapperance has always intrigued historians and it would be a cool little side story to have her possible being one of the actual "original natives" of the Island.
