Now that we've seen two more episodes since the beginning of the season, what does everyone think "the secret" that Jack and Hurley were talking about is?
Here's my input:
Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, (Jin and Sun?) get off the island thanks to some heroics from Ben and in return they must never tell anyone where the island is or that people are still alive. This is because the island is basically the most special place in the world and Ben knows this and will do anything to protect it. Unfortunately for Jack, he didn't realize this during his time on the island and now he feels like he must get back. This show has a history of dynamic characters constantly evolving (Locke going from philosophical genius to the town idiot, Jin going from criminal to lover, Sawyer going from punk to a likeable guy, Sayid going from torturer to nice guy and now back to killer) so it would make sense for Ben to become more of a powerful figure after being diminished by Locke at the end of Season Three. Sayid's part in all of this could be working as a hitman for Ben because Ben saves Sayid from great dangers on the Freighter and now he must work with Ben to eliminate the Freighter group.
The Losties agree to this deal with Ben because they want to protect their friends who decided to stay on the island for whatever their reasons were, whether for health or personal fulfillment.
