if the leader of the others is chosen by a long process that starts out when they are very young, how did john become their leader? i understand the whole 'this has happened before' thing but something doesn't add up. john crashed on the island with everyone else and had a life outside like everyone else. i guess my question is this, what happened the very first time this all went down?(if they are stuck in a loop, that is). how did john lose the leadership to begin with to cause all this to happen for him to get it back? the only thing i can think of is that john is jacob's son(or jacob himself) and ben stole the role as leader from him somehow

I think locke is going through this for the first time here is why. one he would of remember things that happen like richard told him the next time I see u I will not know whou are so give me this .
