so when the losties are in the past and speaking to the people who were they in the past and the flash comes, do they just vanish and the people have no idea where they went. Do they literally disappear in front of their eyes. Example, when they are getting shot at in the canoe, does the canoe just disappear. When Richarld Alpert was talking to Locke, does he just vanish in the middle of the conversation? Does anyone know?

Presumably this must happen, yes. But we've not seen any actual evidence, so who knows for sure?

well if you remember when locke was with richard during the first flash... time passes .. then locke meet back up with richard some time later and gets doctored up buy him , lock ask where did you go, and Dick says i didnt go any where you did. so i assume almost with out a doubt he just vanishes
