I couldn't find a post about this - not sure if anyone talked about this yet either, but what if one of our heroes is the inspiration behind the statue itself?

A couple of episodes back, might have been in the premiere, Sawyer and Juliet are walking through the jungle when he steps on something sharp. Instead of just having him say OW, and walking it off, there is a closeup on his foot, closeup on him pulling the twig(?) out and a few seconds for him to regain his composure before going on. To me, that small scene did nothing other than show him stepping on something - but why show it if it didnt mean anything? (especially now that the show is coming to its end, every minute on screen should be of some importance)

So what if his foot gets infected, because of all the time traveling craziness he doesnt exactly have time to deal with a foot wound. Eventually leading to the toe having to be amputated. The weird part, that isn't too weird based on where the show is going, is with the time traveling. What if Sawyer travels to a time where early inhabitants of the island would make a statue of him - maybe regarding him as a god (could be a possible god connection, especially with all the god references this season.)

What do you think? Am I crazy?

xD That theory actually makes sense. When he stepped on the twig I was thinking "what on earth does that have to do with anything?"

But, I think Jughead was put inside the statue. It seems a good size to contain it...

The foot is more of a natural four toed foot; if that makes sense. It isn't like an amputated foot, that would have a spot where the toe used to be.

I don' think that Jughead would be put inside the statue.

Remember when Faraday said to the female soldier in 1954 that she/they had to bury the bomb? Something along the lines of "get as much concrete as you can, bury the bomb, then fill the hole with the concrete/cement".

After entering the hatch (in season 2 I believe) Sayid pointed out to Jack the layers upon layers of solidified concrete surrounding a section of the hatch wall ( I think near the magnetic wall). He mentioned he had not seen such a thing since Chernobyl.

The need to bury an emmence amount of radioactice potential. Relitively new to the site as well, and I usually lurk, and I do not see a repeat on this topis, but could there be a connection?

Now for aggreement.......I think that the statue is indeed connected to current inhabitants of the Island. Just not sure who yet. With a season of time jumping.....who knows

The statue is of a left foot, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was Sawyer's right foot that had the splinter in it.

In the entertainment weekly article angeline lilly (forgive my spelling) says she thinks her and sawyer are going to stay on the island together and become the adam and eve skeletons. note this is not a spoiler, its her personal theory, yo.

That would be cool, but I think the story behind the four-toed statue has something to do with richard alpert and his origins, which has been previously discussed.

are you saying richard has 4 toes or that he comes from a time so long ago people only had 4 toes, or from another *dimensionnnnn* where people have 4 toes?

I think that richards past go's hand in hand with many of the mysteries of the island including the statue among others. And I wouldn't be surprised if either richard has 4 toes or was around when people or someone did...
