good question, i guess everyone assumes it goes along for the ride. it is where the supposed runway is so it may come into play, i'm betting its where the temple is.

Yes, but when danielle and karl were killed It didnt seem like they had traveled over water or at least they didnt imply it, and If I remember correctly they were close... I wonder when if ever it will come into play

You bring up an interesting point.
Remember back in S3, when Ben takes Jack to the top of that hill and looks over at the other island. It was relatively close, 1- 2 miles away. But, at the end of last season when we first see the island from the air and then we see it vanish, where was the other island? It should have been right there with it.
My guess is that it is transporting with the main island. It had a lot of Hanson/Dharma stuff on it too so why wouldn't it?

My prediction is that it will be where the 06+Ben come back to when they return to the island. The canoes found in last week's episode look just like the canoe that Carl and Alex used to travel between them. The fact that one of them had an "Ajira" water bottle in it makes me think the 06 took the canoe from the other island once their Ajira plane landed on the "runway" that Sawyer and Kate were helping to build in S3.

The other island is moving with the main island. Remember, at the end of season 4, when the island vanished, Jack said something like, "Don't worry, there's another island close by that we can land on," and Frank said something to the effect of, "I've got news for ya Doc, there's nothing but water far as the eye can see!"

I'm glad you said that. Could the food drops to the Hatch have been coming from the 2nd Island? I've always thought they came from the mainland or something, but a short range HELI could take care of it quickly. Did anyone already know this and I'm just now catching up?

I seem to remember hearing a cargo plane fly over when the food drops happen.
The runway was not complete when Sawyer and Kate worked on it so we know that it could not be used as an air strip to take off and land.

there was a 1940's helicopter on the Sri Lanka video (pictured halfway down.)
In The Lost ExperienceIn the Sri Lanka video, a clip of a helicopter is seen. The helicopter shown appears to be a Sikorsky H-5 Dragonfly, a common American helicopter dating back to the 40s and early 50s. As it is shown, Alvar Hanso states, "…all of the support you will need, including regular medicine and food drops will be made in perpetuity."
Information from the jigsaw puzzlesThe backs of the official jigsaw puzzles further explained that the notation "PRD" found on the blast door map stands for "periodic resupply drop". The writing on the blast door map says: "P.R.D. every 6-8 months. Fatalities: 5".

The food drops could be from the original time they were dropped because the time jumping has been going on all the time just not so dramatic since the wheel was turned. What if at that time it jumped. What else was going on then? I will have to go back and watch.

Perhaps it is YOU who haven't been paying attention...the island is moving backward and forward in time. If the island skips forward to a time when the runway had been completed, there would be no problem would there? Perhaps Mrs. Hawking and Ben have determined an "event window" when precisely that will occur.

yes it is, I have it saved in my favorites for fast action recall. It doesn't really say where the drops originate from or much extra info. It makes a lot of sense to me the Supply Drops could come from the 2nd Island. Of course, if anyone can shoot holes in it, fire away.

...I guess my only question would be, how do all of the supplies get to the 2nd island?

Good question, how do they get there?
I would not imagine it comes from the second island. If I recall correctly, the second island seemed a little more primitive than the main island. It seemed like a Zoo? I assume that was a Zoo anyway. It would not seem that the food would originate from there, but would be needed there. They seemed to need it more due to there run down look and conditions.

Haha. As much as I like ranch, it seems like some of the stuff might go bad if left for decades.

The food must have a serious ammount of preservatives, because even crackers keep fresh for 15 years.
