I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on a few things... I searched some of the older forums and didn't find these things addressed so here goes

How is it that the survivors trigger the Dharma food drop when the women in the hydra are jamming all signals on the island? Wouldn't this mean that some part of the Dharma initiative is still functioning, and that they still know where the island is?

Also, any ideas about the others that were on the island before the purge? In one thread I saw someone suggest that they were indigenous, but this is impossible on account of the islands tendency to abort pregnant women...

Finally, I probably missed something as it's been awhile since I watched season 2 and 3, but whats the deal with the sickness Rousseau spoke of, and is it in any way related to the vaccine that Desmond used while staying in the hatch, or was it all a hoax?

firstly the food drop would suggest that something dharma esque is still operating despite the purge but then kelvin was in the hatch much after so i am not sure what is happening there....i suspect the hatch peeps and the barracks peeps were not completely aware of each other or it was a subsiduary of dharma so to speak

we dont know how how the 'natives' got to be on the island yet but there are many theories about them - one being they arrived with the black rock

the sickness has not been revealed yet either. it could be linked to the purge but perhaps not! the vaccine has not really been discussed much further yet.

i think there has to be at least some dharma left off the island or someone from the hanso foundation initiates the drops. and i think they are timed(every so many months or so).

they others could be indigenous. time seems to move slow on the island so there wouldnt nessissarily need to be a lot of generations to keep people on the island for long periods. and maybe the island didnt always abort pregnant women. it doesnt seem to abort any other pregnant mammals.

It's a somewhat crazy idea but could the food drop have been engineered by the others and have come from the other island? Would there be some benefit to the Losties to think that someone knew where the island was? Or was the food drop supposed to go to the others but because the island"s coordinates are shifty, it landed on the bigger island instead?

I think the jamming may have something to do with the abortions. It's more likely that the initial gassing of the Dharma people created a genetic mutation in the others, affecting fetuses and making it impossible for them to come to full term and survive the birth process. Add the magnetic factors and maybe you have a toxic environment similar to how .weightlessness starts to affect body organs in space.Although they gassed the people, they probably couldn't completely eradicate the aftermath of toxins left behind. The healing aspects of the island have compensated somewhat and the others must stay on the island to survive, People living under high tension wires are more susceptible to getting certain diseases because their immune system is bombarded with electricity. Remember Ben's tumor on his spine?When China was doing nuclear testing in the atmosphere, we could detect radiation on plant leaves in So Cal in less than a week or two afterwards.Would the gas attack have alerted scientists that an event had taken place somewhere not too distant? Is this why the Dharma group (Hanso) is trying to get back to the island and why Ben is jamming it?
