More Than 6, How Can We Have Missed This?

Ok, while I was watching the episode, i had this revelation. See, Desmond heads to the freighter with Sayiid. We know of an OCEANIC 6. 6 OCEANIC survivors that get to leave the island. That does not mean that others don't get to leave too, hence Desmond.

Desmond would not need a "media cover story" because his dissapearence wasn't national news. If Juliet leaves the island she would not need a cover story because she could just say that work kept her on location for all this time. See where im going with this? Just because we know of an Oceanic 6 don't mean that only 6 people leave.

Also i DO believe that Kate and Sayiid ARE part of the 6, despite people's theories BUT after watching the economist i don't think the people who left, left without a purpose given to them by the island. As for Jack and Hurley I think they want to go back because they are under too much pressure for what they need to do and want the easy way out.

I was thinking the same thing that Aaron might not be considered one of the oceanic 6 but still get off the island obviously with Claire and I figured the other person would be Sun. I think Desmond will do whatever it takes to get off the island to find Penny...that boat isn't going anywhere without him.

I agree Dz. More than six got off the island. However, I think it is still possible that Sawyer may be the one with Kate. If they can make a cover story for Kate, Then why not Sawyer as well. It did seem that he was about to profess his undyling love. Did anyone notice that Sawyer never took Kate's gun away? I think they have total trust in each other.

Yah maybe Sawyer won't be considered an "Oceanic 6" but still gets off because he wants to keep a low profile because of his years as a con man?? We saw from last night's episode that he was adament about staying...but haha as we can see from the previews, Kate can be quite enticing (haha) and may have talked Sawyer into joining her? Along with that...I would think Kate would want to keep a low profile too seeing as how she killed her father...but next week's should be good! :)

Ok, I just changed my mind about Kate being 1 of the 6.

Ok, for all the people in her world know, Kate Austen is still on the run from the law. The name on the manifest is Kate Ryan. Kate Ryan is thought to have died in the plane crash, not Kate Austen.

Plus, I still feel that there are Losties held captive on the island and the O6ers are being coerced into silence about events on the island. The reports are that these are the only known survivors, blah, blah, blah. But I am still perplexed about Kate. We see her in the media coverage. Sawyer even asked her why a criminal on the run would want to return. My far out theory is that somehow she returns with Claire's baby and assumes Claire's identity. I think Claire has no family (her Mom died in car crash and Daddy is Christian). Plus, in a past episode Claire had dark hair like Kate! So my score is:

O6ers
Jack
Hurley
Sayid
Kate (posing as Claire)
Aaron (being a baby, he may not count as an O6)
and I bet Sun is the sixth

i agree - we know there is the oceanic 6 and then plus extras - like juliet, ben, desmond etc.....

and i like the idea that kate may not be one of the oceanic 6 - she could well have come back and assumed another alias - i mean, thats what she has been doing so it would be easy enough for her to do it again.

i was just thinking desmond has to get off the island for the whole penelope angle to play out (think season 5 may get back to that storyline)

thought this would throw off the sun/jin theories but since he wasnt on the flight, he and even juliet and ben could blend in as part of the rescuers and not be oceanic 6ers but still get off the island

not sure about juliet making it though, think she would be with jack in the flashforwards helping him out of his despair

Good point! I hadn't thought of it that way. Another thing I was thinking, was, maybe more than six losties go back, but ben has them hiding somewhere or doing something else weird and ben-like. Therefore, the media only knows about 6...and part of the whole secret that jack and hurley are worried about is the other non-oceanic 6 losties

Desmond does not care if he is on or off the island, he only wants to find Penny. I'm guessing he'll see she's not on the freighter and will go his own way from there, depending on the info that he can get there. Kate is on the O 6 and if the spoiler about Aaron is correct I wouldn;t be surprised at all - Claire wanted to give him for adoption in the first place, but she does not want to leave the island really, she has nowhere to go and nothing to do off the island. So I think she'll choose to stay. So the O 6 will be Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid and 2 more among Sun, Jin, Bernard , Rose or perhaps a faked one - someone taking the identity of someone from the plane?

hmm this could be true. all this time we've been thinking that only 6 ppl leave the island nd survive. but if that actually did happen, i think ppl would get veery angry with the show, nd depressed. but maybe everyone gets to leave, but sometime later only 6 ppl have actually done something heroic?? hmmm

I absolutely agree that there could be more people coming off the island but the O6 are 6 people that were on the flight and returned home safely.

Desmond, Juliet, or Ben or anyone could easily come home on the freighter posing as anonymous crew members etc. No one would really Know or even notice.

I don't think Kate can pose as Claire because Claire's aunt would immediately notice on TV and report it. Plus the previews for next week looked to me like Kate is arrested.

I think Claire is going to stay on the island to be close to Charlie. After he visited Hurlie at the hospital that proved to me he is a part of the island.

Maybe she would never leave her son and I think she wants to make a good life for him....it would be hard to raise a child on the island. Plus Desmond's vision showed both Claire and Aaron getting on the helicopter....so far all of Desmond's visions have come true unless someone interferes.

Ben could be one of the six by taking someone's identity. And what about Jack's reference to his father being alive in last season's flashforward? Could he also be one of the six?

I don't think Jack's father would be an Oceanic 6, because we don't even know if his body was really on flight 815... Jack found his coffin but it was empty...

I also heard somewhere that Hurley got startled when he looked into the cabin window and saw Jack's dad... I don't remember seeing that so i don't know if that is true...

All I have to say is that the way this season is going compared to last which is especially noticeable in the forums is that there will be many questions answered and more to come. Season is incredibly fast paced and so, so awesome.

I agree and I'm so glad! Now that they know when the end is going to be, they can start answering all the questions and tie up loose ends....its so face paced already this season and I think its going to make ratings skyrocket :) I'm just glad we still have 2 more seasons after this one!! :D
