Ben looked surprised

Did Ben look surprised when Des said Eloise was Dan's mother? Ben seems to know everything, and he seems to have some knowledge of future events so how could he not know something as big as that?

It seems like Mrs. Hawking has withheld some info from Ben, and did Eloise looks devilish or what in that final scene? I went from liking her to fearing her based on that scene.

I think Ben was more surprised on how Desmond knew that Ms. Hawkings was Daniel's mother. Who told Desmond that. I did like the look on Desmond face when he saw who she was. How funny was it when Jack said to Ben I thought Locke didn't come to see you and Ben says, no I went to see Locke. LOL That cracked me up.

I don't think Widmore told Desmond who Daniel's mother was, specifically. Widmore just told Desmond where he could find her.

i don't think ben was shocked at all. i think he had a moment to reflect his need to do one of 2 things:

1. continue to do the "island" business
2. avenge alex's death

since widmore's team "changed" the rules and killed alex ben vowed to return the favor and kill penny.
we all know desmond and penny have been in hiding. as far as we know no one has seen desmond and penny but the doctor that delivered charlie. because they have been living on a boat. widmore further confirms this by say "he hasn't seen nor heard from his daughter in 3 years".

we know ben is on a time limit.... 70 hours of which i think 24 has passed.

She is the woman from the jewelry store who would not sell Desmond the ring . She told him that he would go to the island and push the button and it would be the only great thing he would ever do.

I think Daniel does age. My guess is that after Locke turned the wheel last night, the Island was sent to the time when Dharma was first coming to the Island. I think the Island stays in this period for a stretch, giving Daniel an opportunity to blend into the DI and make his way to the Orchid station, just like we saw in the premiere episode.

This is most likely the same time that Charlotte was a young girl on the Island, and Daniel would have seemed like an old man to her because she was so young.

i think Dan is like Richard,one who has been on the island many times and doesnt age.
Or i wonder if Dan has lived this life multiple times? Hence trying to predict the cards with Charlotte.Just like how Elloise knows the future.

Now Ben's surprise!! i noticed this right away,i watched this episode twice.
Think about it,Faraday works for Widmore,so Elloise might too.Ben looks surprised because the master of manipulation may have been manipulated!!This could mean the end for Ben and he knows it.
Or the look could be the thought running through his head" if Des is here,Penny could be close by too".He could be scheming
who knows,thats the fun of this!;)

Well here is my take on it. Ben knows the rules of "ontological time travel" (go tohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontological_paradox). Ontological Paradox is exactly what is happening. Its non-paradoxical time travel, or "pre-destination" but there are items, such as the compass, that have no actual origin.

But on with it. Ben knows the rules, and knows what is supposed to happen. What he doesn't know is that Desmond is an exception to that rule. The time-loop Ben knows does not have Daniel telling Desmond about his mother.
