When did Jack's father die?

Forgive me if this has been discussed and is redundant, but I'm new (first post here) and I scrolled through a coupla pages for Season 4, and I cannot find this addressed.

Here is something that is bugging the snot ouf of me.....

Recall in the last episode in Season 3 when Jack was in a flash-forward and he's in the hospital hallway all strung out, and Rose's son threatens to call Jack's father...??

So in Season 1 when there were all of these flashbacks about Jack's dad dying...then recall he kept seeing him all over the island and it freaked him out really bad, right? Well, if he's actually alive in the flashFORWARDS, what happened in Season 1 during the flashbacks?

Did Jack actually decide to go back to the island, like he told Kate at the end of Season 3, and Season 1 is when that happened? Did they "start over" when they got to the island (Jack, Kate, etc....)?

These may be dumb questions, so bear with me...but this is one question that is bugging me!

Again...if this has been discussed, please bare with me!

I think the whole "get my father down here and if he isn't more drunk then me...." statement has been written off as the stressed out ramblings of an oxycodon junkie. Atleast so far.

We don't know if Jack's dad is dead or alive. It's a total mystery with people argueing both sides (personally, I think he's dead - check all the threads about it).

I can't really figure out what you're trying to say with the rest of it... Season 3 is really the beginning of Season 1? Can you explain it in a different way, because I'm totally confused..

That can't be the case because the doctor is the one that asked Jack the question to begin with. The doctor said, "Do you want me to call your father". Jack said something to the effect that his father would probably be more strung out than he was.

Yes, welcome to my confused world!

I cannot explain it that well because we are talking about a time-warp THEORY of what is happening on the island.

What I'm saying is that perhaps some of the flashBACKS were possibly not what they seemed from Season 1. If Jack's father is ALIVE in the FORWARDS, then what were we seeing in Season 1? I'm only conjecturing and thinking out loud that the flashBACKS where Jack's father is dead, really were starting in the future. There is no logical way to explain Jack's dad being alive in the FUTURE.

Not trying to confuse anyone, just bare with me. This whole thing about Jack's dad being alive in the future made my brain hurt....

i thinks the theories surrounding it are that its a alternate reality and he is still alive or that jack was just highly strung and so doped up that he got confused.

when its jacks flashforward, hes been drinking nd prolly on somethin
the doctor(who is NOT roses son) doesnt say anything about jacks dad.
jack says something like,"you get my father down here, nd if hes drunker than me..." to the response of the doctor saying,"how much have you had to drink today?"

so recap:

this is jacks FLASHFORWARD
his dad no alive. he dead
jack a mess
rose has no son

I think I figured out why I thought that Jack's father was still alive in the flash-forwards.

Two things....when Jack was getting his prescription filled and the lady at the counter told him he had used all of his prescriptions, Jack told her that his father, Christian Schaffer had written the new prescription. She told Jack, "I'll have to call his office," and Jack replied, "he's out of town now".

Then, of course, the confrontation with Dr. Hammell went down and he asked Jack if Jack had been drinking again, and Jack made that comment about his dad. The doctor never said, "Hey dude...yer dad is dead. Remember?"

Those two things were what lead me to believe that Jack's dad was still alive. Why wouldn't the pharmacy tech know that Jack's dad was dead? He was a famous surgeon, just like Jack. Two references to Jack's dad being alive seem weird. Jack was strung out on a narcotic, not hallucinating on acid.

I may be making something out of nothing, but this is suspicious to me.

Ok...on to other threads and theories.
