Not sure if anyone caught this in the most recent episode.
When Jin and the French group are on the beach and the more brash of the French guys is 'interrogating' Jin, I couldn't help but notice how aggressive he was being. As if he suspected Jin of something. During the conversation Jin mentions the helicopter and asks if the French group had seen it. To this the French guy (smokie's arm rip victim) replies "Boat, helicopter...next thing you know he'll be talking about a submarine!"
When I saw this the second time around I thought about how it might be possible that Dharma (or I guess Ben and the others at this point) could have possibly attacked the French team's vessel somehow in order to have them ship wreck on the island or maybe just for the protection of the island. This would have been reasonable cause for the French guy to be somewhat hostile towards Jin.
Not everything adds up with this (none of the French specifically mention being attacked, only that they shouldn't have followed the numbers transmission) but it is a thought.
