Is the Beninator who appears to be evil personified going to come out smelling like a rose when all is said and done? Or will we keep wondering about how he got that way, like so many dangerous geniuses? Just because they are after him doesn't mean that all of his shenanigans aren't justified by some as-yet-to-be-revealed greater good.Any ideas??

That is a though call. The other have went from people just hanging out on the island (FB) to the scary looking kidnappers on the boat to scientist doing experiments. They have been deceptive from the beginning.
Ben has the means and method( i assume ) to get people off the island. Does he have the motive? Is it good or evil? Looks like self preservation at this point, but nothing would surprise me.

good and evil are not as obviously defined and vary depending on peoples perception. he says all along that we are the good guys. i mean look in every battle - every side thinks they are the good guys, doing what they need to do for a cause they believe in.

I have the feeling Ben honestly feels like he's in the right...I mean what if they began the show showing us THEIR side of everything....I mean we don't know that much about Dharma or what it was they were studying? Who knows if Ben did a GOOD thing killing them or something? Haha I'm pulling this out of my ass at the moment haha but just throwing the possibility out there. There are still a lot of questions surrounding Ben's intentions....granted the Others are saints by hey, neither are the Losties as we've seen.

I hope in the end he does end up being a pretty good guy...I actually kinda like him...his sense of humor kills me.

Haha I know....part of me thinks he might actually be good and have good intentions.....maybe the people that are out to get Ben are ALSO out to kill Desmond and get rid of the other Losties?? Who knows, maybe they are all going to have eventually work together....I REALLY want to see more of Ben's flashbacks, its killing me!

I actually thought about this too. Remember he did say to Locke that they were the good guys. Maybe he was telling the truth.

Yah Ben was always so adament about that....how they were the good guys but of course we just assume they were bad. I mean...what bad guys do you know have book clubs??? Haha :p

I guess that depends on what kind of books we are talking about.

And it's ironic that he hates King because so many of the things we have seen on Lost correlate to King books. Kind of a backhanded compliment.

I think there's good and bad in everyone on the island, between the others, and the survivors, and I think that's how it'll pan out. I think the show will end though answering a lot of things but still leaving it quite open to your own theory!

He always has an agenda and if being a good guy for a period of time gets him to his goal he will do it. Lets face it there are alot of shades of grey among the losties and the others, ben just changes his shade like a chameleon when it suits him, but we all know he is a meateater with sharp teeth.;)
