I know it happened a few weeks ago, but did anyone think it strange that Jack didn't even try to help Naomi after Locke chucked the knife in her back? I mean he didn't even run to her side to check if she still had a pulse--and we know she wasn't dead, she could have been helped. Especially considering how bad Jack wants off the island and she was their way--it seemed odd that he just let her fall and assumed she was dead. It seemed really cold to me.

I suppose if he had checked and noticed she was alive, then she wouldnt have been able to sneek off and have Kate go find her and all that, but I can't beleive the writers would have done that--go against everythng Jack's character seemed to be about, just for that small plot point they could have gotten some other way.

Either way it really made me see Jack differently, he's been changed by the island.

he really is - think he is losing his confidence and others are losing their confidence in him.

but i mean, how long could you 'stay strong' for?

Good observation. Very odd of Jack, who always has a pack full of medical supplies. probably to obsorbed in making the call for recue.

Yeah that was strange about Jack alright! But he's definitely losing control, going to actually kill Locke rather than just a few punches, he's getting reckless. This is one of my favourite things about the show, that they put someone in a leadership role but he's not the typical hero, it's so clever.

I think its interesting that both Jack and Sawyer have kind of changed throughout the show....Jack usually would have been the first to run towards her and seal up the wound to stop the bleeding....but I don't think he even did anything for her?? That and I was shocked he actually pulled the trigger on Locke without any hesitation!

That is a good point. I think when he wanted to shoot Locke , he was changed forever.
He also could care about bringing her body back. I wonder why sayid cared so much?

Yah i've wondered about that too....was there some love connection between Sayid and Naomi that I missed??? I haven't heard it brought up but I read somewhere they had a moment on the beach? Lol not sure where I was....

I agree Jack has changed some but when Locke knifed Naomi, as soon as Jack started to move Locke had him at gunpoint telling him to stay away from the phone.

I don't think I'd be moving much at all if somebody has a gun pointed at me.

i think sayid wanted to bring the body back because even though he is a killer he usually cares about the body after death. hes the one that closes her eye. also in season one when jack wants to burn the plane sayid is the one that protest, saying that isnt humane to the bodies and what about the religion of some of those people. even though shes dead and he didnt know her full intentions he still believes she deserves a proper burial. and the was an extra spot on the chopper.

Good point, we even saw him praying too at the beginning of the episode and then goes over to her.

Tell you what - I wouldn't give a crap about a body either if I was on an island for 100 days - especially one that might be a detriment. Sayeed has obviuos guilt and that is why ih "cares" so much. You see the same thing later in the show when he has OBVIUOS regret for having to shoot the girl. He hates what he had to do, hates that he has to see ben and OBVIOUSLY has a diffent agenda that we have not seen yet.

Sayid is def important to the grand scheme of things... For some reason he has some connection to death (ie spoke at Boone's and shannon's gravesite, was seen covering the bodies of the dead others at the end of last season, was considerate of Noemi's dead body...) which is kinda weird...

Ben also reminds Sayid at the end of last episode that the work they are doing (killing people) are protecting his friends...

Ben therefore has somehow got into the mind of the strong minded Sayid...

The only times I have seen Sayid vulnerable is when his childhood friend Nadia is somehow involved....

I don't think Sayid so much as a connection with death...I think its more of a RESPECT for the dead. He seems to pray a lot over bodies and gives them proper burials. Probably having to do with his religious background.

And I agree, Sayid seems to get vulnerable when it has to do with women he cares about....for example Nadia and then Elsa. So far from watching, I think somehow Ben is keeping his friends (Oceanic 6) free from harm in exchange for Sayid working for him. Not sure what it is but I'm sure it has to do with this secret they're keeping....perhaps BEN is the secret?? And I still think he might have something to do with the Oceanic cover up....Ben seems to be more important than we thought and we know he sure gets around.
